Launch GTAV while online? then what is the point of offline mode if you have to be online 24/7?

Maybe some of us don't have a reliable net connection or don't want to have our games broken by updates.

The good news about this update is that it only comes with the shitty DRM launcher no game file changes, which a modder in our community hopefully will make a bypass mod for it. Seriously it's BS we have to be online just to play GTA singleplayer.

The game files for this update are intact and it should be for the rest of you, I went to OpenIV immediately after the update to see if it would ask me to copy the new update.rpf over, and to my relief it didn't. I knew if I had to do this it would break a LOT of mods including the RAGE weapons & vehicles enhancer, my LSPDFR cars, and the ROF mod for the pistols, basically a lot of mods that took me several hours to days to install.

I just played LSPDFR no problem and all works fine even the ASI mods thanks to an ASI support plugin for RAGE (basically to run ASI's until SHV is updated you need to run RAGE). Only simple trainer for me doesn't work which sucks considering I got my patrol gear loadout on that.

Again someone will make a bypass mod for the new launcher, angry modders are motivated modders we just have to be patient.

I tried everything in my power to do this as well, replaced exe's. Tried reverting certain stuff, and updating others...to no avail.. I'm pissed because my favorite install is simply done for. I have to do a complete reinstall and now with the fact you CANNOT go back versions because the launcher is a form a DRM you are fucked with every update to gta. Until this all gets sorted I'm done with modding and playing GTA. Really pissed about it as well.

Wholeheartedly agree with the collective sentiment of this thread!

Since Grand Theft Auto's launch way back in 1997 , I have owned every GTA title, often duplicate/triplicate copies across multiple platforms.  (Close to $1,000CAD)
I had initially purchased GTA V for XBOX 360 when it first launched (80-ish CAD).  Once it was ported to PC, I purchased a warehouse edition from Best Buy (80 CAD) as soon as LSPDFR was announced.   That was terrific, except that by the time I had purchased it, Rockstar had released nearly 30GB of updates that on my pitiful 1.5MBPS connection, took 3 days to complete!  I played LSPDFR for less than one week before Rockstar put OpenIV out of commission and fucked over every single person who purchased their title for the sole purpose of mod enhanced gameplay.

Once modding was given back to the community, on several occasions, the integrity of the files was deemed corrupt by the Rockstar Games Social Club and the 30GB+ updates started again.  Finally, out of sheer rage and frustration, I purchased the Steam Edition (another 60 CAD) so that I would be able to create backups and easily restore the entire game directory after game-breaking updates.

I have only just recently got back into LSPD:FR after being away on a lengthy work contract, and found that many of the mods that made LSPD:FR so enjoyable and immersive have discontinued updates and support, causing numerous crashes and glitches.  That's not the end of the world, and I realise that many of these modders have given their time and resources freely in an effort to better the experience for the entire community.  In my books, that is an incredibly selfless (and possibly thankless) job!  Life goes on.  I've managed to get by with a few good plugins and scripts that build on the LSPD:FR base mod, and have been enjoying it immensely for the past week or so.

Today, I launch Rage, which in turn launches steam, finally to launch an installer for a fucking launcher that I didn't ask for.  The version of Rage that I am using is out of date, as it was the only way I was able to maintain a well behaved collection of plugins.  That will no longer hook, as the game version is no longer supported.  When I try to revert using the built in backup system in Rage, I am informed that there is a newer version of R* Social Club on my computer and the installation is being aborted.  On top of that, this update has broken (yet again,) the compatibility of ScriptHookV.

I am so beyond frustrated at this point.  I have been a loyal backer of Rockstar Games for going on TWENTY fucking years.  I loved them, I held my breath every time a new GTA was announced.  I pre-ordered, stood in lines, did extra chores around the house to come up with money for these games.  And you know what?   They never ONCE failed to deliver anything short of stellar, first class content!  I can't begin to count the hours that I spent as a youth, engaged in the virtual worlds of Liberty, Vice, and San Andreas.  While Take Two has been the parent company to Rockstar since nearly the beginning, they have traditionally left them to call their own shots.  Then, this parasitic fucking entity imposes corporate decisions on Rockstar, which Rockstar itself doesn't even endorse.  Rockstar sold out, and while I don't personally begrudge them for it, I can honestly say that I will never spend another penny on a Grand Theft Auto title, no matter how amazing it is.  To do so would be to line the pockets of these corporate fucktards, who care more about generating revenue from a 6 year old game than the actual enjoyment of its fan base.

Here's a suggestion to you despicable, sleazy corporate fucks.  "Take Two"cyanide capsules, ingest, and make the world a better place for all.

Fuck you, Take Two.  I have never played your shitty moneygrabbing GTA Online; Never Wanted to play your shitty moneygrabbing GTA Online; and never will play your shitty moneygrabbing GTA Online.  You won't get one fucking penny.

I'm all for doing the right thing, and purchasing a game the honest way, but after having paid full price for three separate copies of GTA V, only to have it broken and rendered useless by your underhanded bullshit, I can most definitely see the attraction to non-legit alternatives.

On a side note:  Sadly, as technology allows us to one click shop, obtain information in a few clicks and download the latest games and media in mere hours, so too does it allow these villains to gain increasingly shocking amounts of control over our daily lives.  I may look back on the 1990s through rose colored glasses, having lived my childhood years through them, but there is something to be said for the simpler times.  When you went home at the end of your work day, that was it.  There was no cell phone to pester you on after hours.  Sure people had them, but rarely gave out their number to anyone outside of their family and friends.  If you wanted to talk with a friend, you either picked up your corded landline phone (cordless if you were posh and had the arms of Schwarzenegger to lift the damned thing) and called them.  But since calls were actually billed by the minute in those days, you only used it to invite said friend over to hang out.  You know, like two people actually talking face to face for more than 5 minutes, and without having the safety blanket of a smartphone to hide behind when things got awkward?  Scary, right??

I have avoided social media for the better part of 7 years now and will never again consider it to be of any value in my life.  To have your every mistake; every comment; every embarrassing moment documented for eternity is simply not an attractive prospect for many, myself included.  That is the great trade off.  If you want to utilize social media networks for their intended purpose, you must forgo any expectation of privacy or anonymity of the most basic level.  Games are heading in this direction as well.  Why must I be online constantly, to play an offline game?  To verify the authenticity of my purchase?  Bullshit.  That needs to happen exactly ONCE.  It is absolutely ridiculous to imagine someone activating a game legitimately, to only turn around the next day and apply a crack to it because piracy is fucking cool.  To prevent cheating and modding in an online multiplayer environment?  Okay, I can buy into that.  At least I could if this authentication and integrity verification process only happened when I wanted to play ONLINE!  What does it matter if I have modifications that enhance my gameplay and could potentially give me an unfair advantage to other online players if I NEVER PLAY ONLINE?  The only explanation that I can come up with is that these companies want to be able to a) Compile statistics of their user base for god knows what, and/or b) to deliver constantly updated shameless promotional garbage in your face about their latest must have title, and/or c) break mods for a long enough period that some may venture online and spend money on their shitty in game economy while waiting for rage plugin hook and scripthookv to update.

To be honest, as much as it hurts to not be able to keep up with the latest improvements of a great modification such as LSPD:FR, the headache of constantly fucking with my files in order to make things work is growing old on me fast.  Coupled with the very real possibility of game developers collecting personal information in the near future is enough for me to pull the plug.  I may have to resort to an alternative version of a game, but goddammit, I've only bought it three fucking times!  Sue me, bitch!   Ethics aside, at least in doing that, I would be assured that it will NEVER update, and once compatible mods and scripts have been installed, it will NEVER break.

In addition to the above, it angers me that all these companies want to branch away from Steam and put games on their oh-so-"pretty" launcher.  First off, literally no one on Earth asked for or wanted company exclusive launchers.  Second, there are various reasons Steam will always beat out these other garbage launchers, but the main one is convenience.  People like myself love having all of our games in one area that we can get to when we want.  Back when physical copies were a thing - and even now collectors (such as Mr Terry on Youtube) has a huge collection of retro games that are all bundled and displayed together.  He doesn't have one shelf for X company and another for Z.  Third, almost all of these other launchers look like trash and have poor layouts.  Uplay sucks, Origin is somewhat decent, Blizzard sucks and Cockstar's launcher is absolute trash!

One of the biggest positives to PC gaming was not dealing with exclusive Xbox/PS garbage.  If it was released on PC, everyone could play it and we could easily get to it.  While it still is easy to get it, it's not convenient.  Companies need to stop biting Steam and the consumers in the ass and stay on STEAM and NOT require their launcher to play!

No one wants all these launchers for different companies.  No one, ziltch, notta - only the companies, and frankly, what they want doesn't matter.

The 'Launcher' is a stupid little crapy thing that no-one wants or need which takes up RAM and CPU that I could be using for other things, on top of which my game is stuck at 30FPS even though just a few days I could run it at 90+.

Edit: aprrently my V-sync was changed to half, dosne't change my mind on this.

Sorry complete noob to this stuff I will admit it. I was just getting the hang of installing mods with a stable lspdfr gameplay and this happened. So when you say TAB OUT does that literally mean hit the TAB key to get out of the game window then launch  through the ragplugin? I know I'm a noob.

I'm with you.  A friend of mine, @Diamond Casino and Resort had  his PC trashed from this launcher.  I got GTA installed, but I'm dreading launching it.  If it works, that means I will spend the next 48 hours+ trying to dance with modded and see if it works and is stable.  If it doesn't work, I'm uninstalling GTA and never buying another game from Rockstar.

Some have speculated it's so Rockstar can hide Red Dead behind their garbage launcher.  While that sounds accurate, another possibility is that future GTA titles will be exclusive to their launcher and not be on Steam - or if they are on Steam, require the launcher still.  A third reason, his was another attempt at fucking over modders.  While some people have reported PC issues resulting from this launcher, what it ultimately fucks up is modded GTA.

This new launcher was so unnecessary.  There was no need what so ever for it.

Same.  I was never going to update GTA unless I had to get a new PC, yet here I am, forced to update because cockstar just can't stop screwing people over.

This totally sucks.  I run an older version of GTA5 that was stable with LSPDFR.  I can't launch the older version with this crappy launcher.  Looks like they are forcing us to stay updated.

For me it's Miami Vice all the way (the TV series, NOT the movie) with the Ferrari Daytona Spyder and the Ferrari Testarossa. Although the Daytona used in the series was actually a faux Ferrari made using a Corvette Stingray, it's still among my favorite Celeb LE cars.

Yep, I realize this but based on all the info I've read online about this particular error message, and there isn't much, it's a rather common error, one which I thought a 'developer' would have at least some interest in resolving so people could use and enjoy their software. I'm not saying it's your problem but if there's a common issue people are having that prevents them from using your software I guess I kinda hoped you might have some insight as to what the problem is.

Like I said, if you got LSPDFR to work then be glad because, despite our best efforts, many of us can't get it to work at all and it's really depressing to see everyone else thoroughly enjoying something you can't have

Hey there, so ever since the 0.47 update, I have had errors upon errors upon errors. I updated every mod, and used a clean game directory. I put all my stuff in like I normally do, and it works. Then, I add my other mods and all of a sudden; "Out of memory. Exit and reboot game.", Stuck on loading screen, regular RPH crash, etc. and the same messages even after uninstalling those mods that may have caused it.

I was just wondering if anyone else was having the exact problems as I was. Starting to really dishearten me having to constantly be fixing, and not playing. Thanks, GTA.

RanditoCarlito got a reaction from Chappie in Emergency lights barely visible
Well I figured out what caused my issue. ghost128 sent me a message inquiring about a carcols file and although that wasn't the problem, it reminded me of another change I made at the same time my problem occurred. Turns out I just switched from using Simple Trainer to Enhanced Trainer and I had toggled the Blackout feature to see what it would do. I thought it only blacked out building lights, street lights and such. Turns out it blacks out all those AND your vehicle headlights, tail lights, emergency lights... all of it.
Sorry to sound the alarm but I genuinely thought I had a real issue but it turns out it was just a feature in the Trainer that caused it. If anything I guess this is just one more thing to add to the list of things to ask when someone else has this problem. This time it was just a trainer setting. Thank you again for your help. I'm glad to know there are people on here kind enough to help those of us who are less experienced. I will have to remember this one because if you turn Blackout feature on it WILL kill the lighting on your vehicle.
    Thank you again my friend
