  1. I was debating wether or not I wanted to do this, but what the heck. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LIBERTY CITY PD IS ACCEPTING BIDS FOR A NEW POLICE FLEET We are currently seeking suggested car mods to meet the following requirements All vehicles shall support ELS v6.0 or better. Vehicles shall offer a color scheme that is different from the current LCPD color scheme similar to NYC. Basic car color should be either black and white or white cars with color stripping. Blue and grey vehicles may be considered. Red, yellow, orange, brown, pink or similar colors will not be considered. All cars in the fleet shall have the same or substaintially similar color scheme to present a unified department. There is a preference for Black/Blue/Grey color stripping and "Police" graphics. Yellow, Orange, Red and Green graphics may be considered but are less desirable. The color Scheme shall be available for the Ford CVI marked unit with a red/blue light bar. Addiitonal grill and deck light is desirable. The color Scheme shall be available for either a marked Chevy Impala or Dodge Charger with a red/blue light bar. Addiitonal grill and deck light is desirable. The scheme shall be available for a marked SUV (Tahoe or similar) with red/blue light bar. Addiitonal grill and deck light is desirable. It is preffered that the scheme offer a mod that is available in multi-livery that provides for unmarked vehicles with red/blue dash, windshield and rear deck lighting. In addition a slicktop marked model in a graphics scheme similar to the above models shall be desired. The unmarked, slicktop vehicle may be a Ford CVI, Dodge Charger, Chevy Impala or SUV. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So in other words, I am looking for a good mod pack that can meet all of these requirements. Like all bid proposals, I am sure that there is no perfect match, but if anyone cares to make suggestions, and if I get enough of them I will post the "Bid Winner" here after careful evaluation. If I don't get any takers, well, I understand. These are hard requirements and so far, I have yet to find any looking on my own that meet my needs. Just thought I would try the collective wisdom of the group.
  2. OK, So its me. Wonder why. So as soon as I go on duty I will start driving to the Domestic Dispute so I am half way there before the call comes in :)
  3. First off, let me say that this is by far the absolute bets version of LCPDFR I have seen. The developers are on the right track with the mod. I loved it when a really long pursuit with very realistically behaving backup ended in a multicar crash. The suspect then went on foot and a foot pursit started. Ended up tasing the suspect after several blocks. I also was surprised when I had a traffic stop and after running the suspect on the computer and when I was walking back to the car he came out shooting on me. I wasn't expecting that. Nice touch. But, this does not mean that the mod is perfect. I just wanted to know, is it just me or is the family dispute the first call for everyone? I don't mind taking the call, but it is always the first call. Is this becuase of where I start in the "real-game" -Anyone have any suggestions on what the best place to start LCPD from is. In other words, after what mission is the best place to save a game then start LCPD so you don't get phone calls while on duty?

Well, at least you see what I mean. I do think the 360 controller would help, but I don't have one (controller or 360) I am not sure I want to buy the controller just for this game. I guess I just need to keep practicing.

First off, I don't have a controller, just keyboard and mouse controls and what I find is, the camera angle tends to be the biggest obstacle to my ability to drive well. Does anyone know if there is a way to change the camera angles? What I mean is, by default when using the 3rd person cameras outside the car, if I move the camera above and behind the car so that I can see what is comming, it will drift back down to directly behind the car. This blocks the view directly in front of me and usually I either need to have three hands (one to steer, one to accelerate and to keep moving the camera. ) or I just simply run over peds and rear end cars (messy but it works) Now I am sure some of you with better coordination with me or people who have redone their default controls have found a way to improve this, but what I am really looking for is if there is a way to program (or mod) the camera positions so it stays where I put it relative to the car and not drift back down directly behind it?

Same with me. I don't call for Noose back-up much any more becuase they always run me over. I once had a good shoot out going and had called for several units and they were showing up and deploying pretty realistically. I decided to call for Noose then run up a set of stairs to get out of the street. Would you believe it. When Noose showed up the drove up the stairs and ran me over. Funny! I wish I had that on video. I actually laughed to myself. Another LOL moment was when I was in a pursuit (don't remember where) but managed to launch myself over a cliff at like 100mph flew through the air and landed on a beach on the roof of my car. One of the AI pedestrians on the beach shouted "What the F***!" Something about that I found funny.
  7. I have noticed that occasionally I respond to a suicidal person and when I am pulling up there is another unit pulling up at the same time. They get out of the car, draw their guns, but otherwise stay out of the way unless I get shot in which case they open up on the EDP. Personally I think this is pretty cool, but not sure why it only happens with the suicidal person and not everytime either. I would think this would be a neat feature to have in the game. After all in real life, if I was responding on a "shots fired" call I wouldn't be the only car to respond. Of course I can call for back up but there is something cool about rolling up on the scene and having antother car pulling up at the same time. This is also different from when you encounter multiple shooters then any cars driving by will automatically engage the perps. Anyone else notice this or am I the only one? I think it would be pretty cool to have an option to have a backup unit "meet you at the scene" before you even get there. This could be different from CTL+B which has backup respond to where you are. I know that the game script causes behavior that is unrealistic, like me going code to a call to pass like 100 cars just driving around eating donuts (ok that part may be real) then have me chasing a suspect on foot past a car stopped at a light and they just sit there. But hey, even with all these imperfections, it is still a very cool mod.
  8. I did a little experimenting and I found out that rather then editing the handling.dat I simply replaced the entry in the vehicle.dat file from STOCKADE to in my case PATRIOT. This made my noose stockade more stable, but not quite a car and by not changing the handling.dat the other stockade still handles like a stockade. This also makes it very simple to change a specific vehicle to handle like another type of vehicle without changing all vehicles in that class.
  9. YES! That's it. That is exactly what I was looking for. I really like the way it works now. You are all the best thanks for your support.
  10. Thanks for the advice, but maybe I didn't explain myself properly. Its not the "G" key itself as much as it is the fact that how it changes the siren appears to be random to me. I hit it once, the siren goes on, I hit it again it goes off. I hit it and hold it I get all kinds of random results. I should have noted that I have a modified siren file with wail, yelp phaser and airhorn sounds, but I con't figure out how to select which one I get. I guess I was looking for behavior more like a real siren where there is a rotor switch to select the different modes and the cars horn is tied to the siren which switches back and forth between modes when the siren is on or gives you the electronic airhorn when the siren is off. If this can't be done that is OK, just wondering if anyone had any tips or tricks.
  11. With ELS is there better siren control other than hitting "G"? In other words, if I want the yelp, it seems to be dumb luck for me to get it. There doesn't seem to be a way to automatically toggle through the different siren modes like you can with the primary, secondary and warning light modes. Anyone have any advice for a more realistic experience.
  12. OK, I know this may be cheating but... I wated to try to change the characteristics of my NSTOCKADE to behave more like a car. What I did was edit my vehicles.ide and changed the parameters to be the same as POLICE. What I thought this would do was enable me to drive the stockade like a manic without tipping it over, but this apparently didn't work. I am not getting errors, it runs fine, but it still flips over easily so apparently the changes I made had no effect on the model. Is anyone aware of any other parameters or data that need to be changed to change the physics of the model? Is there another line in the vehicles.ide file that I may have missed?
  13. True enough, but usually they just follow me automatically and it doesn't explain why the got into a shootout with the backup unit. I tried this by spawing non-noose partners, and the see to follow me around like puppies. Even funnier however, is the fact that all there manerisims are in synch with each other. i.e. they all scratch there noses and adjust there belts in synch. Thats also pretty funny. Hey, I know that push come to shove its a computer program and its going to have its limits and quirks. They just make me laugh, like when all the backup shows up and they crash into each other.
  14. GTA IV EFLC includes police3 and police4. If I have GTA IV original version can I add cars under these names and have them usable? Just thought I would ask.
  15. PO190 replied to Tomoya's topic in Discussion
I do repeatedly tap Y or N, so far they still end up shooting at me (and my partner caps him MISSION FAILED!). Apparently my officer never went to Hostage Negotiation School. I guess this is all just luck. I really have no control over the outcome. I press Y or N and the computer decides if the guy is going to surrender or not. I gonna tase him next time and see what happens.
  16. PO190 replied to Tomoya's topic in Discussion
So far I have yet to get my suicidal person to surrender by pressing either Y or N. Can't I just Taser him and get it over with?
  17. I was "fooling" around with FR the other day and thought I would share the results. No real support request here as I was pushing the envelope, but thought I would share for comments. I selected a "Noose" officer and put him in a unmarked dodge charger. I then hit F5 (spawn partner) 3 times to put 3 "partners" in the vehicle. I thought this would be a fun way to respond to calls with a whole team of noose officers jumping out of the car and running down perps. First off, the heads of the poor guys in the backseat "stuck out" of the roof. I thought that was pretty funny and brushed it off as a limit of the car model. I then responded to a "shots fired" call. I pull up jump out of the car, but my "partners" remained comfortablly seated will I shot it out with the bad guys. I requested back-up "ALT-B" and when the backup units arrived, my noose team finnaly got out of the car but then got into a shoot out with the arriving officers in the back-up unit. When the shooting was over I got back into my car, but the noose guys just stood around looking important and didn't get back in with me so I dorve off and left them there. I actually thought it was pretty funny. Not sure what combination of things and the interaction with the GTAIV engine created the strange behavior. While disappointing, it did provide for some humorous footage. Too bad I didn't capture the video. It was kind of a hoot.
  18. OK, that seems to have helped. Now I just have to learn how to drive. I will play with it a couple of days to make sure I get the hang of it and it is working, then I am going to try the ELS mod and some ELS cars to see if that works.
  19. OK, I know everyone is going to laugh at me, but here it goes. I have successfully installed and loaded GTA4 and the FR mod and all the pre-reqs. The game starts, loads a new game and I am in Roman's Taxi. I select Alt+P, select a uniform, select a car then I end up back in Roman's taxi. I exit the taxi "F" walk over the the patrol car parked nearby get in it start driving to a call then it suddenly starts loading the "Cousin Bellic" script again and I am back in Roman's Taxi. I do not have any saved games and this is a brand new install that I never played before. What am I missing? Do I need to "unlock" anything, apply any cheat codes or such to get past this script to I can use the FR mod? Here is my Diagnostic report.
