gp got a reaction from NeulandInternet in How to install sutom sirens FOR ELS? HelpIf you don't use sirenmastery then you do it the same way as with the stock game. ELS uses in-game sound strings to decide which tone is going to be associated with which sound string (and thus which siren/horn). Essentially you extract the vehicle sounds from resident.rpf using OpenIV, then you replace the sounds you want, and re-import it again using OpenIV.
However, and this took me a while to figure out, so hopefully it helps a few people later:
You cannot increase the size of the sound bank (vehicles.oaw) above 15.7MB (I am unsure of the exact size in bytes). One sound I found you can remove (thanks to a siren back I downloaded) is the "Fail" horn from GTA multiplayer. I replaced that my a blank sound, and gained a few kilobytes that way. This is documented somewhere in the readme of a siren pack download but it took me a while to google for some reason.
If your sound bank is too large, some sounds like the car door opening may not play. More siren authors should document this in their READMEs!
You can also drag and drop pre-made vehicles.oac and vehicles/ directories from siren downloads but I wasn't sure if doing it that way would leave my game working properly especially with older siren packs that may not have the same sounds as the game expects. So I did it manually. It's pretty easy.
There's a few videos on youtube that will show how to do it if you can't find a proper written tutorial. Good luck!

gp got a reaction from Bulldog Designs in LSPDFR Australia Discussion ThreadThe right way *is* to release a limited beta to uncover issues that may not be uncovered by your own testing.
You don't have to do it and you're not always going to find issues by doing it, but it's not inherently wrong.
EDIT: I don't think betas should go in the Downloads section, for what it's worth.

gp got a reaction from jcpse in ELS V - Why I Won't Use It For A Couple WeeksThe fact that you won't try ELS V partly because ELS IV was unstable is exactly what I'm replying to. I wouldn't want others to read your post and be scared away from trying ELS because of inaccurate bias that stems from the older mod. The rest of your reasons are fine even though in a few days it will be irrelevant due to how many vehicles will come out.

gp got a reaction from Uricanez in Albo1125 Traffic Policer CrashYou can find a few of them released recently on this site as well. I couldn't tell if they were all updated or just a few because he makes many mods and I haven't played in a while.

gp got a reaction from officerscrub in Check out ELS for V!Waiting months and months to release the perfect product leads to nothing being released at all... I hope those were some strong words you were using and that iterative development is still a strategy being considered once LMS figures the technological breakthroughs required to release something ;)
