Keep modding guys, no one knows, no one cares, honestly... OpenIV won't be outdated except for some newer DLC's most likely, so mod to your hearts content. I'm a keep at it for as long as I can. I'm not buying a nother Rock* game. Police 1013 should have an Alpha out by next January - June

IF this is bullshit, why would OpenIV comply? Again, the OpenIV team aren't idiots. For them to receive some random C&D should have them skeptical and trying to verify its legitimacy. Seeing as OpenIV has already taken the steps to shut down, whoever contacted them has to have something that shows they are an active employee with T2. I'm just saying, the OpenIV team wouldn't be so quick to do as instructed unless they genuinely believed in the authenticity.
In regards to the actual letter itself, it does look bullshit. It looks like someone from the EU who has only been in the US for a month wrote it. I'm normally not one to freak the fuck out, but the reason folks such as myself are getting so upset is because we have put a lot of time into modding our game. We have taken a lot of time to personalize the game to how we want it. My game is fully modded out. Audio, characters, graphics, cars. I have over 4 DLCs filled with standalone cars. The very idea of all my modding efforts going out the window enrages me. I'd be just as mad if Rockstar pushed out an update for a file I didn't have backed up, which ruined my entire game. (Mind you, my normal backup method works flawlessly. It's when Rockstar randomly updates a different file, such as Steam_API)
Ultimately, most of us here just want to play games how we want to and enjoy it. The idea that someone is trying to stop us from doing this is what makes most of us so mad. If we rented the game, I could get behind suing someone who modified it. In this case, we spent $60 on the game. It's OUR game now. Rockstar does ultimately own it, but so do we. We can do as we please with the game so long as it doesn't infringe upon GTA Online or Rockstar (redistributing).
If this is some gag, good, we can move on in a few days. If not, goodbye LSPDFR and GTA. I will never be purchasing another GTA title.

I don't like how any of this is playing out. I mean, the only thing I have heard is what GooD-NTS has said on the forum. Not to mention the quote on the grammatical errors. It's especially odd, when a PC Gaming news site picks up the story and reaches out to GooD-NTS, Take 2, and Rockstar all for comment, and hears nothing back. How do we know this isn't some loser trying to get back at the modding community? How do we know this isn't just GooD-NTS wanting to quit working on OpenIV, but doesn't want to right out say it? For me, there isn't enough on the matter to form any feelings towards it. I'm very skeptical at the moment, and I hope more comes to light so we really know what's going on.

I was thinking the same exact thing. This all seems to come at a very suspicious time, with no real context to why all of a sudden this has become an issue (in terms of needing a cease and desist letter) for Take-Two.

Gerdss got a reaction from Reddington in OpenIV discontinued | Take Two claims game modding "illegal"I don't understand why they are so butthurt with people modifying the game, I love the developers at Bethesda and the devs of American Truck/Euro Truck because they don't give a fuck if you mod or not, people can actually fix bugs and make the game look better than before.

Gerdss reacted toDeactivated Memberin OpenIV discontinued | Take Two claims game modding "illegal"I think it's common knowledge that companies can enforce that software be and remain un-modified, many just choose not to due to the sheer number of people doing it and the difficulty of locating a source -- in this case, locating a source was easy. OpenIV.

Oh well. I won't be contributing any more money to this charade. Hopefully things like zmod and ragehook won't be targeted as well, but who knows, as it seems they are randomly targeting segments of the community.
Sorry for the meme, but whatever:

"wtf delet this" - Take-Two

Gerdss reacted to GameandChill in [WIP] Computer Aided DispatchThis is exactly what I've been looking for! I've been setting up a Free, but very real CAD system the past two days for a community, but this is exactly what we are looking for, especially when you can get it to AutoGen everything! I'm sure it's hard work but keep it up a lot of RP communities will be using this for sure!

Gerdss got a reaction from Slushy in [WIP] Computer Aided DispatchThe Computer Aided Dispatch will be a website where players can join for free in order to save their progress via LSPDFR modification. This website will allow players to;
Log their patrols: You can keep track of your patrols and how long you have patrolled in the past week.
Log any incidents: You can log any traffic stops, arrest reports and more!
More to come!
This website will also be available to clans on a premium but affordable cost;
Clans will be able to set designated dispatchers and roles within their section.
Clans will be able to put custom subject records into their own system (If someone were to roleplay as "Steven_Jones" they would be in the information b4 the roleplay so the dispatcher can actually pull up records).
Clans will be able to put custom vehicle records into their database.
Dispatchers will have their own section to keep track of units and calls.
More to come!
You can currently visit www.lspdfr-cad.com to visit our website and keep track of our progress!
