I'm running on a GT600 with 2GB ddr3 ram, and a dual core and 4GB ram, I did have a lot of crashing etc: but my system is lower than yours and I'm now running for over an hour without crashes, I've tried with and without dsound.dll. My advice is to start again with Lcpdfr 1.0d. You must completely uninstall your old versions of LCPDFR, completely , if your using Mods, and I take it you are as your copmplaint is also with ELS V8. I found that ELS V8 was causing most of my crashes. I do not copy any advancehook.dll or script.dll's from any of the packs I have, they will be older that the ones with LCPDFR 1.0d. Also back up before every mod. I did find the basic LCPDFR with xliveless and dsound run fine its when you add mods. especially ELS v8. I was advised by a very excellent Modder ( DD) to try it with ELSV7, but haven't had to. Also I copy and paste from the folders to the folders, I don't just click on the folder and trust it to overwrite etc.

I take your point but with just the base LCPDFR installed it runs for hours, no crashes... Substantial evidence I know, but it work for me in real life...LOL

I've done just that, my point is with what I've read on other posts, Els makes gta 4 unstable as it's pushing the boundaries too far? What I want to find is an English pack or car that'll run without Els? Without going too far off topic, can the cars already in lcpdfr be modified without all the Els stuff?

HI, having spent best part of 3 weeks, getting this to run, with a British mod pack, I find that it runs for about 15-20mins then crashes. So annoying. I have everything I need, and I suspect the fact is that I am technically modding a Mod? Its great to have you home force on the screen, but I have just re-installed the original Lcpdfr pack, and it has been running for the last 1hour without fault. There are no problems I can see with it. I love the Idea of having ELS and nice looking cars but really for playability the original is still best. So in future realeases is it possible to have a choice some different simple cars? perhaps someone has some? I really think most of the problem is ELS V8?

Iheard xpadder is only for none Microsoft pads? I had no problems until I installed ELSV8, then the left thumb does not utilise the siren, G or 1.2.3.4. on the keyboard, its just the way ELS is set up... I tried to change the .ini to left thumb, but still didn't work. When I first installed ELS 1,2,3,4, didn't work.... must have done something wrong, it deleted everything, and then re-copied it over, this time instead of copying the folder ie:common, I did it the long way, opened common, then opened data then highlighted all the files copied and then went to the root common folder, opened it opened data and pasted it. I have found that is very easy to miss something, as I have found out with the handling.dat of DD. Met pack

Hi, I've had lots of support from you and finally got everything working with double dopplers Uk stuff. and I have ELSV8. Recently its started to crash, I have been playing with the handling.dat as the uk police car pack handling was awful. I re=installed my original backup, and have noticed that there's a lot of traffic without the uk addon/mods. Also the cars pull over when running with lights and sirens. Why is this not duplicated with the uk mods, the files ihave added are ELS V8, met police pack, Met officers. Having kept the advanced hook, of the original game, I can't see any other files I have copied that would affect traffic, is it another .ini adjustment? one final thing, can I make the officer walk faster? I know they do walk slower but it can be a bit tedious on foot patrol, without running everywhere

I use the stock ones, but go into the .ini and make sure you have (I use) 'X' in the join pursuit line. also I have changed startpedpursuit=Y not used it yet. makes it much easier to join pursuits

any chance of more speech? when running the checks etc, would be nice to get the results etc, with speech?

'If its not broke don't fix it' I'll be with windows 7 until there is no support, my computer is 5 years old now, just put a new graphics card in to be able to play GTAIV Lcdpfr, runs fine... Spent about 1 week, getting it all to run, and the mods I wanted, not tempted by windows 8 or 10 .... Really, does it really make you games any better, I know windows 10 and only windows 10 will support DX12, but wih all the fafing to get games to run properly, again if its working the way you want it to ... leave it alone?

*&^&^&(&%^%)^ it was all going so well! Installed ELS V8 without the advancehook and script.dll as they were older than what is with the game. The standard cars loaded but no bar lights, but it all ran well. So I thought well the standard cars may not be ELS compatible, so I continued to install Double Dopplers Met police pack V4. (with sparkIV) As I'm running with xliveles, I didn't copy the dsound.dll. All loaded well but lost sirens and light from the xbox left thumb, no problem, pressed 1,2,3,4, no sirens. pressed G just got that air horn. Pressed J and on came the bar lights, accelerated and before I could try the sirens again it all crashed. As there is a dsound.dll with this pack I'm wondering if its all made to run with Dsound and not xliveless? No answer from Double Doppler on that one so as I type just copying my backup dsound.dll version and starting again. well two hours later.... I have installed it all again with dsound, installed ELSV8 and the Met vehicle pack, this time I've run the GTAiV direct x update instal in the original folder, not sure if it did anything, then I also (although the latest game patch attempts to remove Rockstar Game social Club) I did sign into it, and also automatically signed in to GFWL. this time it all ran, lights work and sirens, also did one stop no crashes yet, don't mind the od one halfway thru game, I know this can happen.... Looks like I'm stuck with GFWL and dsound. again thanks for all the suggestions, I was just wondering if there is anywhere to post a step by step guide to install all of this, with advice about keeping advancehook etc, so others may save some time. I appreciate that every Pc is quite different but it might help. I'm happy to pen something but do not want to break any rules? Just saving it all before installing Met Police officers Pack (uk)

I think one of the mod packs had a script.dll in it two... should I keep the most recent one? I.e.: the Lcpdfr one. Also I know it had another copy of dsound.dll, so should I keep the most recent one of those as well? trouble is that in most of the folders are modified folders that are already in the latest Lcpdfr, Like slot control, in the els foder of the car pack, there must be the same file in the ELS folder... again which one to keep? Just re-installed with xlivless.... not crashed for over 1 hour... also had to change config.ini so that x on my controller would allow me to join a pursuit. E didn't seem to want to work.... Great now to try the mods 1 at a time.

Ok, its crashed and will not load. 1. I'm installing with xliveless.dll 2. the ELSV8 has dsound.dll in the package. O know I can't have both so I haven't installed it. When GTA4 starts it states, lcpdfr has encountered a problem please see lcpdfr.log Can't find it. The only thing I though was the advanced hook.dll from ELSV8 or the Script hook.dll from ELS may be the problem, so I've put the originals back in... it started went into what looked like a trainer senerio and crashed, so I have reverted but now will not load at all. Any suggestions, should I be loading with dsound.dll? Any preference? Found it. while I'm waiting I'm going to restore to original state with just the basic lcpdfr loaded with xlive.dll

The pack from double Doppler came with install read me and had its own els folder. Basically it's was a question of copying the common and els files. A new els.in into the root folder. Then using sparkIV transfer the.wtd .wtf? Into the game root folder.i have done this process about 3 times. Should I install elsV8 before any cars. I know I need it to run els c compatible cars, but does it matter which way round it's installed. I'm wondering if it's the els folder contents that may be a problem.

Hi, having spent all day again trying to mod my lcpdfr, and a couple of days just getting it to run, a big thankyou for the help you have given me and by searching these support topics. I have just about everything I need I've got C++ 2005, 2012, 2012 for display, Direct x, SDK and .net4.5.2... Windows wants to update it but that just cocked everything up 4 days ago. I have a disc, not steam. What I have noticed when installing various options to get it to run: 1: if I install with dsound, it crashes a lot. Also Games for windows runs. 2: if I try to install D>D> met police pack and ELS V8 It will not run If I re-install with xliveless.asi : 1: It doesn't crash, I can get D>D> met police pack to work and ELS V8 is installed but lost the sirens, seen various threads and still working on it. 2: Games for windows live does not run, the game still saves and loads a lot quicker. But you cannot play online... not that I want to The stage I'm at having install twice now, and switching from one backup to another, didn't help much when switching for the dsound.dll etc, I'm really reluctant to try and do it all again just for British cars etc. But they did handle better, is there anyway of improving the American cars handling? is there a mod? any suggestions as to how to get the sirens going in ELS V8? I will try to re-install ELS if I get a good suggestion but I'm wasting so much playing time

Thanks, just tested 'X' works fine, but when I get out of the police car, there still isn't any chevrons, there was adialog box opened, but car drove off before I could read it... I'll look elsewhere in the forums, as I'm sure I saw the keys for xbox input to report a pursuit. The chevrons in the partner room, still not there for tutorial. Since doing various things, to get the LCPDFR to run... from the other @will not run ' thread, the game also doen't log into windows live, not bothered as I'm not an online player, but the game does save, which it shouldn't without 'live'? thanks again. found it down d pad +X

Hi, having got it all working very nicely, I have searched but cannot find answer to my problem. I'm using the new 1.0d having installed with xlive.dll and running in administrator. I have no other mods added yet. want to get it all right first. I have done the tutorial, very nice but cannot get back to it? the chevron in the rest room is not there. When behind a vehicle, I press left thumb and select traffic stop nothing happens? I have check the config file and it is all set up for this. I have tried using the shift key and that doesn't work. again config file for keyboard showing shift key... do I need to re-map it to another key? I have tried just blipping the sirens, the car pulls over, but when I get out there are no chevrons as in the tutorial? I have to approach the car, and aim a weapon at the driver... a bit of excessive force? Any suggestions? Ideally what I feel would really be nice is to have a quick option (perhaps a hot key or on install) just to use xbox controller to control cars and when on foot, and then use keyboard for other commands? It will take time but can I just disable all the xbox 360 commands in the config file to achieve this. I feel with the actual gta4 game controls and the lcpdfr controls there is too much duplication which is causing problems.

I had this problem, install using xlive not dsound.dll. change gta 4 exe and launch gta4 to run as administrator, search the forums, there's loads of info make sure you have C++ 2012 for display installed. Really search ' will not start' all the links to everything you needs to install is there.

I've resolved the issue, have .net 4.5.2 and turned off windows update. I will manually check for windows updates and only install files not associated with .net 4.5.2. I have spent hours with this problem and although there are several threads on this subject, surely it would make sense to list the fix in a topic? if you haven't already I've been all over the place for info and really cannot remember if there is one. On my computer I now have several c++ re-distributable programs, do I need the all? my oldest being C++ 2005. I'd like to say thanks for the help, but you haven't apart from deleting my original request as it was allegedly in the wrong topic, but on checking the top thread shows support request? I also understand it easy for me to complain, I'm sure I, (we) do not realise the time and effort put in in producing this fantastic (when it works) Mod. perhaps the option to allow old versions to be downloaded could be considered, As I'm told ELS8 doesn't work? so I'm reluctant to do any other mods, and just stick with what works

Hi, I've been trying to solve this for last 8 hours, search 'will not start' in the search bar, and find out what you need to do, what error messages if any are you getting. I have cured mine by installing c++ 2012, and using the xlive.dll option, and .net5.4.2 but windows update has just put me back to square 1, This is absolute frustrating rubbish, wish we could get the old .95 back.

HI, Sorry I thought I had posted in Support, but as you have deleted my request for help, I feel its apoor show as Ihave now spent over 8 hours trying to get it to work... I have done everything in all the previous threads on this matter, and just updated .net 4.5.2 and it has stopped working again. A system restore has worked, but If I update my windows it will stop again. also Windows live has stopped too.

I have done everything previously suggested, I've spent 4 hours+ uninstalling and re-installing both gta4 and LCPDFR. I've upgraded gta4, I've done it all and it will still not start, I've now got the install with xlive, as that gets rid of the error message about sound.dll, but I have it still set to run as admin. Tried it with both the extended .net 4.0 and currently windows wants to upgrade it to 4.5.2 again. I have downloaded C++ 210, and many others and every link on the other thread, Please find logs attached. OK, Don't ask me how, but I've downloaded c++ 2012 visual DISPLAY or whatever its called, really quite fed up now, and it still wouldn't run, although my new asi log showed everything ok. Allowed windows update to upgdated .net 4.0 to 4.5.2 and re-booted and it all works.... Crazy, now it wants to update .net 4.5.2 with some security updates... fingers crossed LCPDFR will still work or I'LL BE Back! I'm Back... Stopped working again, will try system restore and report back!
