Welcome to “Under Construction” - the (hopefully) quarterly review of what will be coming soon to LCPDFR.com.
This article will showcase anything new being created by our wonderful community! This may include scripts, vehicles, textures, game modifications, and anything else we might consider awesome!
For this month, I’ve decided to focus on two themes with a total of four modifications!
Vehicle Modifications
2015 GMC Savana Coroner by @Desmond98
An important part of an officer’s toolkit is his radio. The popular modification Police Radio has a coroner feature that helps clean up those bodies after you accidentally ended that armed pursuit on Grove Street. Why have your coroners roll up in an old-fashioned van when you could have a new 2015 GMC Savana van! This van will soon be equipped with lights to keep those wonderful AI drivers from hitting it. It’s going to be based heavily on the Los Angeles County Coroner’s vehicles, helping you make an accurate fleet if that’s what you like! I bet your coroners can’t wait to upgrade to this beauty!
You can find some of Desmond98’s WIPs here: http://www.lcpdfr.com/forums/topic/55797-wip-lapdlasdchp-fpiu-2014/?page=52#comment-461420
OPP Policing Pack by @Thehurk
Thehurk has certainly been busy working to bring us some amazing car models! Lately, he’s been working on converting a fully detailed interior for his ever-loved 2016 FPIU to GTAV, completing his 2015 Tahoe and Charger, and creating an accurate Ontario Provincial Police pack! Whew, that’s a lot! An officer is only as good as his vehicle, especially in the remote wilderness of Chilliad or the dangerous streets of Los Santos. What better car to drive in than a new 2015 Chevy Tahoe, a 2015 Dodge Charger, or a Crown Victoria? These cars are beautiful and are equipped with an accurate setup following the OPP! Oh, and did I mention a stunning interior? Oh, and did I also mention that they look gorgeous?
Script Modifications
Police SmartRadio by @Albo1125
Now that your coroners have a top-of-the-line vehicle it’s about time you modernize your radio. Say goodbye to the bulky radio handset and say hello to this sleek piece of modern equipment. Well, it’s still a radio. But - it’s much better! Police SmartRadio will build off of the main features of the ever-loved Police Radio modification. The radio is designed with customization as a priority -- now you, the player, can customize your radio with different UIs, button locations, and even the new ability to add buttons to the radio! This will allow other plugin developers to create custom buttons for callouts/plugins -- goodbye keybinds! Created from scratch, this modification will certainly, once again, change the way we play LSPDFR!

Coastal Callouts by @PNWParksFan
Sick and tired of boring old land-based callouts? Ever wanted to dive out of a coast guard helicopter, save that drowning person who forgot they couldn’t swim, then be hoisted back up on a winch while your copilot flies? Soon you’ll be able to do all of that and more with Coastal Callouts! PNWParksFan has been hard at work ensuring that he will provide a top quality modification that includes a bunch of new, high quality features. Included with the modification will be a custom dlc with a host of coastal themed custom vehicles including helicopters and boats that can carry ten people, a custom boat pursuit AI and backup system, new peds (e.g. a coast guard pilot, swimmer with fins and snorkel, etc.), helicopter copilot AI that is able to fly the helicopter for you, and some appropriately themed callouts. That’s a lot in one modification! This will help fill those voids for those port or beach patrols, while also adding so much more to the game!

I don’t know about you but to me these all look amazing!
It looks like the future of LSPDFR is bright, thanks to all these talented individuals!
Thank you for checking out the first installment in this new series.

Cordell11 reacted to PgUp in Sam's New Year's MessageHello!
I only accept bribery for guaranteed featuring in the form of memes (future currency) instead of real modern-day currency. Ship over only your most valuable pepes and other memes and I'll see what I can do.

Cordell11 reacted to Sam in Sam's New Year's MessageThe past year has been an interesting one to say the least here at LSPDFR. Of course, we kicked things off with quite the event when LSPDFR 0.3 was released as part of our first ever livestream - something which, despite the many teething problems, quickly rose to prominence on Twitch and was apparently quite popular with everyone. I think it will remain the most horrible experience that any of us have ever bared witness to, but nonetheless, we're looking forward to doing it again soon!
Probably the best thing to come from 2016 though, by a mile, is the staggering number of new modifications that people have developed for GTA V. Whether it was the number of new customisation possibilities brought by Emergency Uniforms Pack, the amazing array of new vehicle models and textures or simply the light which was cast upon us by ELS V, I think it is safe to say that this year has been one of, if not the most innovative that we've ever had. This success is definitely something that we will be looking to build upon for 2017, and that's where our new team of Community Editors, who I'm sure many of you might have noticed, will come into play.
While the idea of dedicating members of our team to working solely on the community is nothing new, it is something that we've never quite fully pulled the trigger on until now. Many of you will remember that we placed a special banner throughout the website back in November, offering people the chance to become more involved with LSPDFR by joining our Community Team. The response to this was incredibly encouraging, with us receiving many more messages of interest than expected. Better yet, the range of people who contacted us was also really diverse with many newer members looking to get involved, as well as people who have been here since the very beginning. Above all else though, it was really exciting to see just how passionate and engaged so many people within our community are about LSPDFR and this is something that is especially evident in the three members who we have picked for the role:
@Fiskey111, an LSPDFR API developer:
@PgUp, the avid Aussie:
@Requies, a member since 2010!
From all of us here, happy new year! We hope that you will join with us in welcoming these new additions to our team - you'll certainly want to be following them closely this month if history is anything to go by.
Sam.

Cordell11 reacted to Cyan in Download Portal NewsHey all,
In the coming days we'll be hoping to disable the ability to keep old versions of modifications in our downloads section and remove all old versions of files from our system. This feature of the IPS download system has never been fit for purpose, and hasn't really worked right from the inception, with the ability to restore old versions and download them simply not working most of the time. It is completely inconfigurable from an administrative standpoint and we've never been able to, for example, change the default action of saving previous versions to being off without making theme/core edits.
This action alone should allow us to reclaim around ~150GB of disk space.
Authors can optionally include old versions as files on their download (which is already done by a lot of authors), or they can create a new file with the old version.
If you need help retrieving an old file, please let Cyan know before the 9th November.
We're also hoping to streamline our upload process. We've started work on a new uploader system that we're hoping will be more reliable, provide more verbose details at each stage of the process and deal with very large files. A test of this system should be available by the end of the year.
If you have any objections or want to air some feedback on any of the above please just leave a comment here!
Cyan
EDIT: For clarification, the feature we are removing is this:
You won't be able to pick old versions and download them. Authors can optionally include old versions as files on their download (which is already done by a lot of authors), or they can create a new file with the old version.
If you need help retrieving an old file, please let Cyan know before the 9th November.

Cordell11 reacted to Sam in Month in Review - OctoberThe third edition of our monthly update packs quite the punch. In October, we've been lucky to see some big developments throughout the community, starting with the huge update to the Emergency Uniforms Pack. Not only this, but we've also seen some amazing new vehicle modifications including a police cruiser with funky new animations - working window wipers anyone?!
Emergency Uniforms Pack by @Alex_Ashfold
For those unfamiliar, EUP is a set of character and clothing components that can be used with the GTA Online multiplayer character models. With EUP, you can essentially create your own police officer for LSPDFR, with much of the same customisation ability that GTA Online offers when creating your Online Character.
With the latest edition of EUP, you'll enjoy a massive amount of new police gear to kit up your characters with. There's some really neat stuff in this modification - I'm sure it'll be exciting to see what comes next.
Better EMS by @PNWParksFan
After the shocking discovery that paramedics in Los Santos are somehow less useful than their counterparts in Liberty City who, to their credit, would actually attempt to save the lives of the people that they had run over (sometimes anyway), @PNWParksFan has clearly been in search of a cure, and what better than the latest update to Better EMS which was released earlier this month.
Included with the new version of Better EMS are enhancements to driving intelligence, better response times and a whole bunch of backend tweaks and API additions. If you're looking for a more in-depth Fire or EMS experience within LSPDFR, this is definitely the plugin for you.
Animated Police Cruiser by @majorpaine2015
Finally, something which you might not have noticed. This is a quirky vehicle modification that also includes a number of animated features. Included are both working (and controllable) windscreen wipers and windows themselves.
Yep, let us prepare for the incoming flood of rain-soaked patrols! It's happening.
P.S. A special mention to @Harper who has unfortunately taken ill and wasn't able to post this month's update. We all send our wishes of a speedy recovery

Cordell11 reacted to Sam in LSPDFR 0.3 - November UpdateThis is the sixth part of our LSPDFR 0.3 preview series. For more information about the background behind 0.3, check out the previous installments here: http://www.lcpdfr.com/forums/forum/880-news-updates/
Continuing with the idea of posting regular updates on our progress with 0.3 on Tuesdays, we're back with a look at what's to come in the next version of LSPD First Response.
First of all, let me very quickly pay attention to the success of the mod so far - we've surpassed the half-million mark in terms of total downloads, and despite there only having been two releases, you can clearly tell that everyone is still as engaged and excited as ever, awaiting what the future holds. Especially nice to see has been the flurry of suggestions and ideas that have been floated around by so many people throughout the community, and you can be sure that we're really looking forward to delivering LSPDFR 0.3, which features many of them.
In an interesting twist, one of the new features coming to 0.3 is actually something that we don't think has been suggested much. When developing the final versions of LCPDFR, we invested some time in creating a development system which basically turned LCPDFR upside down, putting the player in the position of a criminal being chased by the police. This turned out to be a vital tool for us when testing police pursuits, with the rationale being that if the cops could chase the player, they'd have no problems at all chasing non-player characters.
This system has actually been present in all versions of LSPDFR, although it was a last minute addition and therefore very rough around the edges, which might explain why it was tucked away as an 'Easter egg' (one that I won't spoil for those of you who haven't found it). In tandem with the development of our new pursuit logic, we also re-created the ability to be chased by the police, ensuring that our logic was designed both for players and peds. Therefore, while off duty with 0.3, you now have the option to hand over control of any pursuing officers during a wanted level to LSPDFR - making it so that you will be chased in exactly the same way that all other suspects are.
It's fair to say that the results of this can be staggering (literally)!
Perhaps it is also worth mentioning as well - while there's a massive number of big new features making their way to LSPDFR 0.3, we've also been making an effort to pay attention to the little details in a number of areas, including things like smoother animations and improved backup spawning positions.
Indeed, one cool example of this is the new 'hand on holster' animation that we've added in LSPDFR 0.3. Unlike some other ways of doing this, the player's body isn't rigidly locked, meaning that character body movement is actually properly synchronized with player movement. This also acts as a really cool way to draw your weapon, as the transition from holding at the holster to aiming down the sights is seamless.
