MountLake Terrace Pack is still happening, but I decided to take a creative break from it for about a week. No worries, it is shaping up to be one of the best packs I've made!

They have, but it honestly won't matter.  When the next GTA releases, millions will still buy it.  Some of them will most likely be the people who have been complaining about this dick move.
OpenIV was only in the wrong with that Liberty City project.  Otherwise, OpenIV was amazing.
It gets the job done.  Negative reviews usually mean people won't buy it.  I for one won't buy a game if it's all negative reviews, or the reviews state there are issues with the developer/publisher.
So, Cockstar is lying out of their ass?  Typical.
Essentially, TakeTwo got pissy because of a harmless project meant for folks to have fun.  TakeTwo only wants you to have fun if you're buying their shitty ass sharkcards and feeding them money. How sad.
I'm not sure how this came up.  Take Twat most likely knows about this website.  There's nothing they can do about it as this website isn't under Rockstar's EULA.   Take Twat may not like this website, but they have absolutely zero ability to take it down.
I wouldn't hold my breath on that one.  They most likely gave that statement just to calm everyone down.  Take Two is in charge, not Rockstar. Even if they wanted to help us, Take Two could say no in an instant.
I appreciate your effort at a boycott, but that won't solve anything.  In fact, if you stop playing LSPDFR, you'll be doing what they ultimately want.  Keep playing and enjoying the game, especially since Take Two may go even farther and try to prevent modded games from working.  This is a long shot, but I wouldn't put it past them.  Also, there's no verification Police 10-13 will come out.  It looks intriguing, but  I wouldn't put all my eggs in one basket.

OG Here. One of the few people on here with a legal background and a level head. Please let me explain.
Been at this stuff for recreation & YouTube since 2011. I made a video explaining the full legal parameters, scope, history, and significance of all of this. Here is the link if you are interested:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_ffiIp218k
The TL DR version of it is the following. CALM DOWN. Everyone needs to calm down. This doesn't mean you can't play GTA 5, use GTA 5 mods, or make GTA videos any more. All it means in the most literal sense is that if you update to the Gunrunners DLC, you can't use vehicle, texture, sound mods. You can back up your game and keep using OpenIV and all the mods you want, until something is changed. That's all it means.  I'm sure there will  be some bootleg Chinese "OpenIV" that will come out. Rockstar's statement on this and their previous behavior would indicate they are not actively opposed to modding. Chill out.
Here is the problem. There is no such thing as "GTA Mod Laws." There is copyright law, US Code, case law, case precedents, DMCA, etc. The internet and the digital realm is poorly regulated and even more poorly litigated. The result is that large corporations that can easily pay tweedy $800+/hr Manhattan attorneys to twist the law however is convenient to shake people down, can and will. People can't afford to fight back so it works, right or wrong.
While I am hopelessly biased toward the video creators, the modders, etc., I must admit I feel OpenIV is in the wrong. The whole thing exists in a massive grey area as it is, and I know from experience that OpenIV and its creators have always pushed the envelope when it comes to reverse engineering Rockstar's creations. Whether it was the Liberty City to GTA 5 mod (borderline legally indefensible) or simply how far OpenIV's creators got into Rockstar's sock drawer, this was bound to happen. OpenIV's creator(s) acknowledged this as well as the fact they felt it would ultimately happen.
Take Two Interactive's bread and butter is GTA Online, Shark Cards, and the proliferation of freemium micro-transaction sausage making. The integrity of GTA Online has always been paramount to Rockstar Games, and OpenIV's continuous reverse engineering of the game's systems, as well as other transgressions which at this point seem to be known only to Take Two's counsel and OpenIV's creator, crossed the line for Take Two.
REMEMBER: OpenIV has been around for about 10 years, and it has been around for 2 years for GTA 5 alone. Ask yourself-----why now?
    Why all of a sudden?
OpenIV went too far into Rockstar's proprietary sock drawer. That's why.
All we need is a mod that lets you replace a Sultan with a Ferrari; a "SparkIV" for GTA 5.
Then all will be well. Just calm down.

Keep modding guys, no one knows, no one cares, honestly... OpenIV won't be outdated except for some newer DLC's most likely, so mod to your hearts content. I'm a keep at it for as long as I can. I'm not buying a nother Rock* game. Police 1013 should have an Alpha out by next January - June

Actually you are "renting" the game.
You agreed to Rockstar's EULA when first launching GTA V. It covers all aspects of the game.

Well you've come to the right topic.
Now you may still have OpenIV on your computer if you didn't overreact like some spastic tweaker, but you'll see a new update (version 2.9) or a new message.

Now you know you're no lawyer, but you're an edgy pre-teen who likes GTA V minion mods, or some short circuit light bulb who drives around in a retired fleet car with amber "warning" lights, with thin blue line garbage plastered everywhere the rectangle will fit, and pretends to enforce his neighborhood watch program while being as grey as he can with the law, but who uploads YouTube videos with that there __PDFR mod, where they could do all those things that would be in direct violation of your state and federal laws. Yet let's assume you'll get some knowledge from my simple how-to topic here that'll hopefully let you see that nothing has changed and you're not as sol as you think you are.
    Step 1:
    Press the button.

    holy shit look at that!!!!

You hacked the modder code you law breaking sob.

I don't see how take two can do this... we own the game. We all paid money for this. WE own our copies of the game. We are free to do as we please on single player. Multiplayer is another story, however. I feel they are infringing on our rights as owners of the game.

It's an odd attitude change from Rockstar, as GTA SA and GTA 4 sales were certainty advanced by the modding community.
On our social media platforms and on the forums here alone, we hear a lot of people just buy GTA 5 for modding it. This is a truly depressing turn of events if true, and I can't see myself funding Rockstar Games/Take Two in any way in the future if that's the case.

Let's be realistic here. Rockstar doesn't actually make money from you playing single-player. They make money when you purchase a game, but then they make no more money from you except through subscription services, paid DLCs, microtransactions, etc. And while there may be "tens of thousands" of people like you, tens of millions of people bought GTA V. The modding community feels big to its members, but that's not where Rockstar makes its money.
    From the Rockstar EULA:
The Steam store page is not where companies put the terms and conditions of their software.

Petitions do nothing. You aren't going to win over a multi-million dollar company.
What you people need to be petitioning is having the retards over at OpenIV stop forcing users to uninstall their software. This alone is a violation of the user's rights. There is no reason to force a user to uninstall your software because some lawyer at T2I said they don't like custom modifications.
That being said, I sure am glad I got out of this shit before this went down.

Done. I also think a tweeting campaign is in order. (@rockstargames)
This is something very odd with Take2. Many gaming companies (Especially open world games it would seem) are fairly open to the idea of modding. Some prime examples being Arma, 911:First Responders (Although the newer games aren't exactly mod friendly), Cities: Skylines, etc. All of these Devs seem to realize that modding keeps a game alive. I just can't believe that the GTA devs have failed to recognize how the modding community has kept these games alive for years after their expiration date.

I created a petition against the closing of OpenIV to TTI, and R* Games:
"For 10 years now the Grand Theft Auto series has been edited and modded by people to make the game more enjoyable. Hundreds if not thousands of people have bought one or all of Grand Theft Auto: SA, Grand Theft Auto IV, and Grand Theft Auto V. The modding of these games have been done mostly in singleplayer and with the help of OpenIV, a software that lets you get into the game's files and replace vehicles, scripts, textures, etc. The closing of OpenIV leaves 1000s of people without access to be able to mod their games, and leaves 1000s of people without the ability to continue their hobbies. All modding used by OpenIV is for singleplayer use only to make the game more enjoyable, the software OpenIV was never used to mod multiplayer or Grand Theft Auto Online so it does not harm anyone. Myself, and other members of the LSPDFR and GTA modding community ask that OpenIV be allowed to continue distributing and running as a modding software. Thank you."
