These pictures do help, but for my own modding attempts in Emergency 4. Thanks for the pics.
As for Desmond, the CHP Explorer uses a whole bunch of Whelen Lin6's on the rambar. Mirror beams on the mirrors (mirror beams are just 500 series lightheads I believe).

There's also a of these pair in the trunk mounted side by side, but they could also be Whelen Avengers. Someone correct me on this.

Sounds like an older Federal Signal PA300 siren to me.  The older models were a little lower in pitch than the newer ones, and the NYPD did use them at one time if that file title is correct.

    Maybe it's a modified FS PA500 siren.

The one at 4:42 is a Federal Signal Unitrol 80K from the best of my knowledge. The one at 4:11 I have no idea. It sounds like a faster version of the LTS siren. Same with the one at 0:12.

From the Philippines, these are Chinese made knock-offs of Federal Signal's Jetsonic. Every cop cruiser, ambulance and fire engine runs these almost exclusively. Only USA type lights are on imported Ford E series ambulances that are owned by private hospitals. This thing probably wins the 'shitty lightbar' contest.

Close up video on the thing.

Awesome. A proper LA Rambulance being done. Nice work. Only thing I could advise is making the black wheel arch cover a bit thicker, make it droop slightly lower. The mirrors as well would need swapping to the ones used on the 4500, but I'm sure you've got that covered.

This should settle some confusion surrounding both vehicles. Ive done my research regarding, might as well share the answers.

Not all batalion chiefs run with the XF bar and black bumpers. A compromise would be for mod author to do this skin instead if the accurate title is to remain.
The EMS vehicles are driven by captains, not chiefs. It would be better IMO to add both battalion and EMS captain in the title to make it clear you're doing 2 vehicles.
The command bits on the new Burbans are more or less similar to the old ones.

Not sure if the Batt chiefs use C3 surface leds, these look like Whelen 700s due to the internal bits being different and the screws being closer to the edge.

Here's the antenna setup on the roof. Enjoy having to model all them pointy bits.
    Hope this ends any hostilities.

Not true. Although one person willingly handed out his personal information, the other person did not publish it. It might be better not to spread false accusations. Staff members are still looking into it, at the moment they haven't made a final decision, and neither should anybody else who does not know the whole story.

Nice work so far. Hopefully you get the LASD cruiser's spec right. They went through so many test variants and versions, its hard pinning down what exactly they use as of right now. The most likely unit is the one with the Whelen bar and rambar. It would be a 'first' for GTAV modding to get the latest sheriff Explorers correctly. If you need help getting the ELS right, I'll be available to share my info.
I hate to be the harbringer of bad news, but a contact of mine sent me this.

To stay relevant, I'll only keep with the Explorer conversation. The sedans and all other vehicles, feel free to PM me if you wanna share insights, speculation and factual knowledge.
The steady burn on that Explorer may very well exist. The takedowns are probably the ones that are steady burn, one red, one blue. Digital video cameras unfortunately do not pickup LED or Strobe ELS correctly. Sometimes, something that is steady burn to a human eye actually blinks on camera. This is due to the differencies in the display frequency of the camera vs the flash frequency of the light. I've had some instances where a slower LED flash appears to have TV scanlines radiating within the light flash. There are numerous videos of CHP's standy mode with all lights on steady, but they are shown to be blinking at a very fast (almost dangerously blinding) rate once put in camera. This information hopefully will help people be more cautious when replicating light patterns off YouTube in the future.

The LASD Charger actually is a one off test vehicle. Offtopic here:

The lightbar on it doesnt even look to be a Liberty but rather a Whelen Patriot due to how its thinner than a Liberty. The thick black gaskets also give it away to my eyes. There's also a pair Whelen Vertexes on the rear just underneath the 911 sticker and the front headlight turn signal.

For everyone else interested including Desmond, LASD are running a mixed bag on their Explorers. They have a Whelen Legacy lightbar, some LIN6's on the rambar, ION's on the front facing part of the rambar, but Federal Signal MPS's on the rear hatch, and potentially FS Hide-away lights on the front headlights. The tail lights seem to be Whelen Vertexes that flash amber/blue alternating. I do not know what the deal is, but it most likely has to do with how FS products consitently cost more than Whelen's. Another factor is that the FS Arjent bar has been discontinued for a number of years now, so they need to replace their worn down lightbars with new ones. LAPD went with FS, LASD seems not to be the case.

ELS pattern here, may not be possible to replicate just yet until ELSV is developed.
Thanks for the answer. Good to know I only need to program in 2 sheriff cruisers, rather than having to make the Caprice, 09 Charger and Taurus work as well for my own non GTA mod project. Sad that none of the other 3 sedans made it in, but its what LASD deem to be in their best interest and for the taxpayer too.

If you're asking about ratio of explorers to vics in LASD, it's pretty slim. I've talked to a couple deputies about it, and I think the explorers are rolling in pretty slowly. Two of the stations I know don't even have any, and I've only seen 1 before. I would assume that the stations more in-the-city (Hollywood type area) are getting them first. Most of the stations have a whole fleet of Vics, and a couple Tahoes and Expeditions.
Basically, there's a lot more vics than explorers. Depends on the station though. I'm sure more will come soon.

Thanks for the pics, they help me in my non GTA mod stuff too.
Do you have any numbers as to the ratio of Explorers (or other new vehicles) to the remaining CVPI's in the fleet?

The Chargers were apparently test supervisor units. Im actually curious that Ford allowed CHP to test a Dodge product without making a fuss about the contract. Google search brings up this forum.

Lots of discussion there about it. Pros/cons. This isnt the place for it though since this topic is about Desmond's Explorers.
The good news is with the LASD version, you can reuse the Setina bar from the LAPD Traffic unit. This sheriff unit will require its own set of custom modelling though due to differences in ELS., I wish you the best in doing it and I'll be here to help you with identification.

My thoughts on this, since I've already done these LA theme vehicles for another game. This particular bomb squad K9 Explorer uses a Federal Signal Micropulse it looks like. The corners are sharp, unlike an Ion which is an oblong. Each division though seems to have a mixed bag of vehicles. Some Explorers have mirror ELS, others dont. Some have Whelen, others FS. Some divisions have the 2016 model, others the previous gen one. My assumption is that it has to do with budgetary reasons. They also probably have different ELS due to the fact they are testing equipment for their new vehicles and attempting to find the best setup for the money they paid.

Even more interesting is that the K9 units have FedSig IPX's on the front grill. Something to note of when making this variant of vehicle.
The Slicktop and unmk Tauruses exist, and use FedSig IPX's as well, but a different version. According to google, the Ultra version.

The interior lightbar is a FedSig ILS. Rear is a SignalMaster just like the Explorer.

There exists an unmarked Explorer variant, rarely seen in videos, but its out there. Some Loudlabs videos have them. Its pretty much the same setup as the K9 Explorer but only has an ILS interior lightbar instead of an Arjent.

Ive seen pictures of one with, another without. My guess is that LAPD didnt recieve the plates from DMV yet, but they put the vehicle in service anyway.
They probably dont need plates though, since it clearly says 'LAPD' and has the unit number on it for identification.

You didn't get a video of the interior?  To remedy that, I suggest you go 100mph on the motorway, and get pulled over by CHP (make sure it's a Ford Explorer, if not you'll have to do it again).
Nice images of the Explorer though, I expected there to be much more in the boot than that, since all that equipment can fit into any saloon car, like the Ford Police Interceptor. Where are the cones and road stuff?

Had to find a lot of contacts, speak with a lotta people and seek the ends of the internet to get to where I am. Its all low poly models though, so in case anyone asks, no, I am unable to model anything for GTAIV or V.
