When it comes to being competitive in this age of game developing I find its the details that make the difference in games from going from good to great.
You know I wasn't really impressed with MP3. I thought the storyline was great, it followed suit with the Noir sense of the Payne series, but I found myself watching cutscenes more than I was actually playing. Although the cutscenes were stylistically created in a very gritty manner, I also saw that it was not really as refined as I was hoping it would be. There were times when textures popped into view, or even a few occurances of missing textures (liquid in glass, and other fine details) which honestly is inexcusible from a developer the caliber of Rockstar.
I was also hoping for some better enviornmental sounds as far as gun sounds, ricochets, etc. I just think a lot more could have been done from that perspective to enhance the enviornmental experience of the game.
Physics was also an area of concern too. Which I understand is one of the hardest things for a dev. to work on. But I the physics of the glass breaking, ragdoll also seemed a little off too. It would have been nice to see the mapping of how a entity reacts based on where you shoot it. Again, I know thats extremely hard to map out.
I know I pointed out a lot of really small things but I just was left hoping for more from rockstar on this... anyone else feel the same?
