Basically, it means that the car has more than one livery (usually, 4), but you have to edit the vehicles.ide file with notepad (or Notepad++) and add the argument (without the quotation marks) "+livery" at the ned of the desired vehicle's line, eg: POLICE, POLICE2, NOOSE and so on. Now it means that when you will select a police car in the car selection step, you will see the other liveries available. Now, if you want to have a livery for a specific region of Liberty (such as Algonquin, Alderney, Broker, etc), you will need to get the ALM mod available on this site.

To follow on from the previous update I posted yesterday, we're still hard at work preparing LSPDFR 0.2 for release.  At this time, it would appear that all issues caused by the latest update to GTA V have been resolved.  Indeed, I spoke of the problem and its solution in more detail in the previous update regarding 0.2.
Unfortunately we're still experiencing issues with LSPDFR 0.2 which appear to be unrelated to the recent update and more of a problem with the modification itself.  These are in the form of script crashes that some, but not all, have encountered during pursuit testing and this is something we've been looking in to.  Unfortunately this seems to be quite a tricky problem to find as different users are experiencing different results.  Nonetheless, I'm hopeful that we'll find the problem and resolve it relatively soon.
While LMS has been hard at work debugging most of our issues (both the ones caused by Rockstar's protections and ones of our own making), I've taken advantage of the extra time to add more polish to LSPDFR 0.2, and even introduce a new feature which I know will be very popular.  To complement the police computer in a vehicle, here's a sneak peek of the equivalent system on foot:

Bear with us as we work this out.  I guarantee you that LSPDFR 0.2 won't disappoint.

You know, I don't mean to be rude, but please stop all this unfair rep adding in this topic. you surely can't get a +3 or higher for asking for a slot in the first post or saying what you'll release.

If you're not using xlive.dll as your ASI loader, then the saved games are located in your AppData folder instead.

multiple liveries is when 1 cruiser uses 4 textures, you need to open vehicle.ID in the common/data folder and find the police vehicle of your choosing, scroll to the very end of that line and type "+livery" then save it BACK THE FILE UP, and your done, then all 4 liveries you added will spawn.

Yes, you've read right, LCPD:FR was featured in the February 2012 issue of PC Gamer (US). I will not post any scans of the article until the next issue is released, don't want to rob their scoop. It is featured in the Downloads section, after the Re-Installs features. The only thing is that after reading the article, it almost seamed as if they haven't played 0.95RC1 yet, but still is a good advertisement for the mod.

    Hey guys,

Since I've been here, I've noticed an increasing number of support threads that lack the proper format.
The posters are usually told to go look at the sticky.
But then a small amount of them fall out of the pack and need even further help like on running the diagnostics tool.

So, I've compiled a small video tutorial ranging from updating GTA IV to running the Diag tool and locating working scripthooks.

CAN BE FOLLOWED FOR 0.95RC 1

    Feedback appreciated.

Video is half the size due to an error with FRAPS, should be fixed in any future videos.
Full screen it and view in 1080p to see the text clearly, or you can just follow my vocal instructions.

Cheers both of you. That does help a lot.
As for stuff relating to just USA, well I'm not looking for 100% accuracy. Liberty allthough based on New York is still a fictional city after all. But I do like to keep the stuff I do at some level of realism.

As I am the chief of police, and the Mayor of Liberty city and also the Govenor of New Liberty ("in my head") what I say goes :) And from what you have both said I don't think it's unreasonable for me to introduce such a system for heavy goods in my Liberty City.
Looks like such a system may end up in practice anyway in the long term. In certain states anyway.

    Cheers for feedback.

We all play LCPDFR in different ways. I like to have a genuine reason for making a traffic stop if there isn't something like speeding, jumping red light, a light not working etc. I also like pulling over lorrys/ heavy goods just for routine stops and check license etc.
Ok, I can always use the "routine check" reason for pulling someone over but for a good part of my working life I drove lorrys and in the UK we have tachographs for lorrys over a certain weight. This records how many hours the driver has been at the wheel to make sure he / she is taking breaks as required by law, and not exceeding the maxium amount of hours in a 24 hour period. It also records speed.
Reason for this is to prevent lorry drivers who drive machines that can cause huge damage falling asleep at the wheel because of comercial presures to keep on driving when it's not safe to do so because of driver fatigue.

In UK a driver of a lorry with a tacho fitted must at all times have in the lorry the last 7 days worth of tachographs to be inspected by traffic police at any time.
So just wondering does the US have anything similar as it makes for a good genuine reason to do a traffic stop on a lorry and then check licesne etc.
Of course it's a game and I don't need a reason, but to quote someone who makes a lot of LCPDFR vids "in my head" it makes sense.

Also any other US laws that might not be obvious to me that can be used to pull someone over. And I don't just mean reasonable suspicion.
While I'm at it. any laws that only apply to buses or taxis etc such as buses being restricted to a lower speed or anything like that ?
But main question is do US have tachographs on lorrys ?

Sorry for wall of text. I never use just one word when 10 will do. :p

    Molten,

As far as I know the Department of Transportation does not have any kind of device that they use to enforce the laws for truck drivers falling asleep at the wheel. It is illegal for them to drive a certain amount of time without sleep or break, but usually that is on the trucking company and not DOT. I think the UK is on the right track for helping prevent those types of accidents!

Here in the US, law enforcement have alllllll kinds of reasons that they pull someone over. Here they have what is called a pre-tectual stop, and that means that the Law Enforcement Officer is going to make up a reason to pull you over, just to pull you over. Yes it is illegal, but they do it anyway. Some examples of things LEO's use to pull peoples over is: (Headlight, Tailight out, turn signals not used)

The DOT has its own set of LEO's that patrol our highways and do routine stops on Trucks, Delivery Vans, ETC.

Also, as far as buses go, the DOT has different laws to govern the individual states needs and uses of buses. Its really going to depend on what

    I hope this helped!

This varies from states to states, just like from provinces to provinces in Canada.

Right now, it is not required by law to have an electronic device that records the time spent driving on-board lorries, but the driver is required to keep a log of his driving times and rest times.

Again this varies from states to states as how many hours of rest is required, some states may say you need 10 hrs and can be split in two different periods in the 24hrs cycle and some may require that that 2 hours may be split in an 1 hr blocks (for food) but the rest of the required 10 hrs of rest (8 hrs remaining) is to be taken as on time-block, as it is in Quebec (A province of Canada). The driver must have at least a 14 days record of his activities and may not drive more than 12 days out of the 14 (driving his car is excluded from the equation in all of the above, since it is recreational, so to speak).

Some states may relegate the duty to an independent agency (DoT) or be the jurisdiction of the police departments, mostly state depts. For example, in Quebec, it is the Dot itself that patrols and inspects the lorries and drivers' logs, whereas in Ontario, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) can do the same, along with the DoT.

Hope this can help you out with simulating this in a North American fashion.

PinkHusky reacted to Break in [How-To] Listen to NYPD radio in game.
Since many people hate the fact that there is no police-scanner action in game, I'm gonna teach you how to have soem sweet radio talk in the background, when you're on patrol.
We will listen to the NYPD radio over internet, this is legal.

Now, GTA IV doesn't accept M3U files anymore, so we will have to have a program running in the background. Use what-ever program you'd like to use, for example Windows Media Player or iTunes. For this tutorial though, and for my own game, I'm going to use VLC. You can get it from here.

    First Step:

Download VLC or any media player of your choice. I'm going with VLC, from here.

    Second Step:

Open your media player, in this case VLC and go to "Media > Open Networkstream..." (or similar on other media players)
What you want to do now is enter the following address into the field...

    http://relay.radioreference.com:80/931287466
    ...and hit Play.

Now you will have a police scanner running in vlc. If you don't hear anything, don't worry, they don't always talk; just wait a bit.

    Third Step:

Open GTA IV and play. You might wanna adjust the volume of your media player so it isn't too loud ingame.

    Have fun!

I can modify files for my own personal use, but cannot distribute them publicly or anything I create and it is not only from the workplace's computers, but from mine as well. I worked on multiple mods before and was part of a ArmA 2 clan that is the primary force for testing the Operation NorthStar mod and I was starting to work on that mod shortly before I got in Activision.

What I do at work, is mostly checking if there is any functionality that doesn't work correctly, check for progression breaks, how to crash the game, level integrity (checking for map holes, invisible walls or walls with no collision), textures missing and/or of poor quality, multiplayer matchmaking and connectivity, audio sound checks (5.1 working, SFX missing and so on) and also a legal sweep (basically, no commercial products shall be in-game unless we have the license to use it, that is why in GTA we have cars that looks alot like their real-world counter-part and they are named differently). It is quite a job, a lot to get used to and sometimes more tedious than people might think. Yes we are somewhat playing the game, but there is a lot of constraints, time (a lot of overtime, for example, I worked 7 days a week, 11 hrs a day on both GoldenEye Wii and Black Ops), the severity of bugs that can be filed depending on the milestone, a lot of database research, to avoid duplicate bugs, a lot of checklists to complete.

Even if for the casual gamer it may look both awesome (because you get to "play" games) and boring (all of the bug filling and such), it is a job that I always wake up and enjoy going to. The company actually "forced" (read HIGHLY RECOMMENDED) me to take this week off... otherwise I would have taken a day off...

But now, back to the topic at hand.... We need more screenies.....
