Officer-involved shooting near Grapeseed

Blaine County Sheriff's Office Daily Report- November 21, 2016

Deputy John Jimenez was patrolling Harmony when he received a call for pursuit backup. When Deputy Jimenez arrived on the scene, he saw a Black Kuruma being pursued by another deputy. The driver was identified as Lily Black via plate check. Deputy Jimenez called in a roadblock team near Sandy Shores in order to stop Black from driving. When the first roadblock was called, Black ran over two deputies managing the roadblock. This caused Deputy Jimenez to fire a few shots at the Kuruma, but the bullets missed. When the Kuruma got on the other half of the  Senora Freeway near Grapeseed, another roadblock was called from below the Sandy Shores-Grapeseed bridge. Black ran over another deputy managing the  roadblock and lost control. Deputy Jimenez then fired more shots at the Kuruma as it was attempting to turn around, this time striking Black. A passenger came out of the vehicle and was promptly arrested. She identified herself as Megan Hanson; no warrants were brought up in her name and there was nothing illegal on her person. EMS was called and attempted to revive Black, but she succumbed to her injuries. Morgan is currently  being held at the Sandy Shores Sheriff's Substation holding cells on the charge of resisting arrest. Her bond is set at $15,000. Deputy Jimenez is still on patrol duty, pending further review.
