Followers This vehicle is a W.I.P. This vehicle does feature DROT like ELS back in Grand Theft Auto IV. I am still working out a few permissions and bugs, hoping for it to be out this month!

Default models might have spinning rotators, yet they used coronas and definitely no emissive parts. It's the same technique that used to be called DROT in ELS. It works exactly the same way, you just don't need external scripts anymore. Why would it be wrong to compare it? Guess it wouldn't; either way excited to see this in action. Wonder if credit will be given to the original creator of the idea. I honestly didn't see the difference until @Cj24 explained it just now and it clicked. Sorry for the ignorance lads; I should try and focus on debates on things I am more knowledgeable about.

I would assume the person Lt. Caine accredited in the ELS Documentation. Would make sense since the comparison being made is to ELS "DROT".

Implementation =/= creation or originality.

I came up with the idea and publicly posted it here back in 2012, has anyone ever credited me for that idea? Nope. Not like I care though, but you chose to raise the question.

Doesn't matter though, I clearly was in the wrong for even saying anything in the first place and accept that. 1 minute ago, Kane104 said: I'd love to know who the original creator of the idea is according to you? "DROT-style" lighting equipment... =] I think we're done here.

All I am saying is, if I compare something's likeness to *Insert here* that is well known I would give credit to that *insert here* for me having based/compared that idea/likeness on *insert here*.
Deactivated Member Deactivated July 22, 20169 yr Author stats 2 minutes ago, Prophet said: Right but it's specifically being compared to DROT. DROT is but merely a term for the method which Lt.Caine gave it, a term adopted and understood by many others now that represents that form of lighting used ingame. Whilst he may have branded it as DROT and released it as a functional script, it doesn't mean he was the first and only person to do it. Using "DROT" to explain is but merely as a reference to help others understand(which you obviously don't) how the lighting works. Just because I reference DROT, doesn't mean I'm speaking about ELS. It means that it works on the same principle. This same thing has been said to you numerous times now and you still don't get it.

Sam Community Founder July 22, 20169 yr Author stats Well, I'm glad this one sorted itself out. For the record, @Prophet and @Kane104 the original idea for something like this actually came quite early on in the days of GTA IV modding (we're talking 2010), indeed it may even predate ELS itself. One of @Lt.Caine's early Charger models had a modified version of a V-shaped lightbar that included the default GTA IV lights, along with the illuminating textures attached to the rear of them. It was very primitive, with there being no control over the lights or anything like that - it was all very vanilla, but this, as far as I know, was the first time that something like that had been done. It would take a couple of years for the concept to be added to ELS. Indeed, Kane104 is correct in saying that he demonstrated a proof of concept of this before it was an ELS feature. I even remember at one point a couple of other people made accusations of this being copied from them as well. The original (and entirely unrefined) concept for this, however, without a doubt came from Lt.Caine, at a very early stage in the game.
EVI Members July 23, 20169 yr Author stats I think it's important to point out a fair caveat of Kevin never having the desire for self importance to state that he was the first with any new interesting idea. The fact that people resort to claiming that they were the first to do this or that to me shows narcissism instead of interest in helping the community out. For almost any claim about somebody being the first, it can be shown that others have had the same or similar idea as well, even though they didn't announce it. It is particularly insulting to anybody with a brain to act as if only one person has a monopoly on innovation. Prophet, I'm sure you're a decent individual and I'm not addressing you or anybody in particular but just in general. Cheers.
