He won't release any of his models unless they are locked. 

Sadly this is true i will try & find a way to lock models.

Don't build your hopes up. There is a lot of back stabbing in the modeling communities. If he releases this, there will be numerous of crooks stealing his parts and models without credits.  

But that happened in GTA IV as well. There is no way to 100% protect your models as Oleg said.

Since I just do textures, does locking mean locking the model itself but still allow for texture tweaks ?

It happened in GTA IV because everyone wanted to show how big their egos are and eventually enough modeling communities in GTA IV became a parasite. It will never be like the San Andreas days where people respected other people's work. I dont think you were even old enough to experience GTA SA-MP. There is a way to protect your models and that is respecting other author's wishes. But we live in an era where people just want to stab other people's back and gain a leverage.

When a way is figured out to lock models i will release this & no Stryker locking doesn't mean you can't do textures just means you can't import the model in to the program it was exported from.

I agree that authors should get credit, but some of them act like total A-holes holding the entire modding community hostage with their vehicle models.

You don't say. I've been around since San Andreas modding and i remember when everyone actually understood the concept of crediting other people's work but nope, you have a forum where there are wolfs hiding among the sheeps. There's too many drama and deep scars in communities we know and wont mention their names, but you are right, its sad that we have reached to the point where no one trusts anyone.

You don't know what you're talking about. 

It has nothing to do with a pissing contest, i work very hard & spend alot time doing what i do & if i want to lock my models so others can't edit my hard work then i don't see a problem with that. How would you like if you left your door unlocked & someone came in to your house & messed up your house or even took something i don't think you would be so happy. Thats why we have locks on our doors.

This is true but rippers are not welcomed here or almost anywhere in the gta community. But ripping for V will be very difficult.

willpv23 has a point, we would be mad if our work was ripped off too. But can you imagine the kind of status you would have if you uploaded this? If you were the one modder who worked FOR the community. To get the community awesome vehicle models. You would be revered! Everyone would know that the dude who made the first true vehicle mod was you. Nevertheless good work!

It will be if you, nor anyone else, choose not to release anything.

I feel for R* & what people are doing to their GTA online it's sad & no i wouldn't be pissed.
