Westlake Police Stealth Unit
One of Silverlakes Police Officers went on a ridealong with Westlake Police this past Friday, and took a few images. This image is one of many he took, and is of a Westlake Traffic Unit on a traffic stop in a "Stealth Unit".
"The stripes were very hard to see, until you shined a light on them" said the Silverlake Officer.
"It was rather interesting, and it's something we don't see in Silverlake"
Silverlake does not utilize unmarked vehicles, except for the Advanced Weapons and Response Unit (A.W.R.U., equivalent of SWAT), and hasn't since the foundation of the service.
The officer went on the ridealong to see some of the tactics and methods the Westlake Police used, and compared them to the Silverlake Police tactics.
"There were many differences, as I expected. They have very interesting ways of tackling many of the same issues we face in Silverlake, such as speeding and drugs"
Silverlake Police is reflecting on the information obtained and is working with Westlake Police to determine better methods of policing our communities in both agencies.
