XBR410 Members September 18, 201411 yr Author stats Silly Kanyo, That's not where Polar bears Belong!
LCPD_OFFICER Members September 18, 201411 yr Author stats Kanyo, how many times have i told you not to smoke evidence? ;D
Sgt.Kanyo Members September 18, 201411 yr Author stats Just an FYI for everyone, the CHP SMPV (Specially Marked Police Vehicle) is sometimes referred to as the CHP polarbear :D
Pengi Members September 18, 201411 yr Author stats I used to love these units but now I seem to love their white and black trimmed units better. This SMPV unit is part of their PCF unit(primary collision factors). It's their accident unit as they believe most accidents are preventable and thus call them PCF not Accident units. Another PCF unit that I have seen recently is this one: '' target='_blank'>> And I think the white and black is growing on me more than the white on white. And then of course they have their Commercial Vehicle Enforcement(CVE) SMPV units which are easier to spot as they have the whole nine yards: '> I don't see CVE units all that often down south, mostly PCF and normal units which seem to handle both normal and commercial tasks. And of course we're just scratching the surface of the in-depth fundamentals of the CHP Just a little CHP 101 for any non CHP-fanatics out there :P
CG Blaze Members September 18, 201411 yr Author stats I love these details. I crave moar. Had no idea there were different purposes for the white CHP cars. Until just now. Interesting stuff! @Kanyo... Those mirror caps and the light housings should probably be black tho........*whistles*
Sgt.Kanyo Members September 18, 201411 yr Author stats I like the black n whites more as well. I especially like the black n white's led slicktop's pattern. I've seen numerous SMPVs with different lighting. The one I made with an 8 module led traffic advisor at the back has a similar pattern to what the CHP chargers have, while the very first white chp car you linked with the black grill and black rear panel and a 7 module led traffic advisor has the same pattern as the slicktops with lights switching to full steady burn at the front in park. This is what I based mine off of: '> '> '> I'm guessing they are changing all of these of the Ford PIU SMPVs: '>
CG Blaze Members September 19, 201411 yr Author stats Oh wow, I've never seen any of those with the white caps/housings. I'm curious, just how varied are the light setups on SMPV's? EDIT: In researching this topic, I stumbled across something I thought was interesting. Though you guys might find it interesting too. Behold, a CHP slicktop with a BLUE mirrorbeam:

Older slicktops are being phased out by the utility slicktops and then alongisde the huge 2011 vic marked order they also made a large 2011 vic slicktop order. So their current plans are to have a large amount of utilities running and the 2011 vics for I am assuming close to 7-9 years. I am having to recognize the Utility headlights and taillights now lol, although with their new laser-light radar tech they get yah speeding well before you see them. @CG, interesting. Occasionally the CHP seems to try and hipster things up lol
Sgt.Kanyo Members September 19, 201411 yr Author stats @CG I'm pretty sure that mirror was knocked off or the led module died on them and they must have replaced it with the wrong lights / modules. I'm calling human error. Also there are lots of SMPVs, but this is the most common and what Pengi linked (from what I can see in pictures and videos). There's one with the cuda traffic advisor (double stacked), there's 1 with a light setup similar to the normal slicktops, there's the one I have right now, there's a marked version that has the chp camaro's lightbar on top, there's a 2008 charger with the fs vision on top, there's a 2008 charger with the liberty on top, there's a charger with a slicktop setup and there's the Ford PIU slicktop. Also crown vics have even more variety with or without rambar, with or without mirror lights etc. The charger with the Whelen Liberty is hard to find so here it is: https://38.media.tumblr.com/d110c238ea0047e689d98631c6d89503/tumblr_n66yh7AVsH1ssnoqao1_500.jpg Everything else you can find on flickr.

Sgt.Kanyo Members September 19, 201411 yr Author stats No, like Pengi said, they use it for commercial enforcement and for accidents. In the mountains they like to use the SUVs like the Expedition / Durango or whatever they have.

In the mountains they use the Ford Utilities, f-250s and the Ford Expedition, and some CVPIs.
