cannot start game with mod

Recommended Posts

Hello !

I cannot start the game after installing the LCPDFR Mod. After starting with the desktop Icon there is the request if I want to play offline or connected to social club. If I select one of it and click on start the game there is an error:

"GTA IV doesn't work anymore"

I tried a lot to get it work.

- Disable User-Acount-Control

- Use no other mode

- switch the GTA IV folder from "read only" (But it switches back automatically)

- installing Xlive less

I also get the error that the Data Execution Prevention has blocked something but

I still cannot set GTA IV.exe under the exeptions for DEP... ?

Can someone help me ?

I hope so

Rob

Before posting a topic in this section, please ensure that you have:

- Checked for similar issues to yours in this forum

Our forum staff are constantly having to deal with duplicate support requests. Before posting a topic here, please make sure that there is no other topic posted which is similar to your issue, instead, read that topic and look for any solutions - if none are present, you can then start a new topic with information regarding your problem. Please do not, however, hijack threads by other member, i.e. do not post your issue, within an existing support request of another user.

- Tried simple solutions

Before posting a support request please do the following:

  • Make sure you aren't using a crack - We don't support cracks
  • Update GTA IV to 1.0.7.0 (the latest version of the game, or 1.1.2.0 for EFLC) - This sometimes fixes a wide variety of issues
  • Make sure that you run the game as an administrator.
  • Make sure that your GTA IV root folder (and every subdirectory) is not set to "read-only"
  • Ensure that FirstResponse.net.dll is in the SCRIPTS folder and that AdvancedHook.dll is in the GTA IV ROOT folder.
  • Ensure that ScriptHook.dll, ScriptHookDotNet.asi and Dsound.dll OR Xlive.dll are in the GTA IV ROOT folder
  • Ensure that there is a folder titled 'LCPDFR' in the SCRIPTS folder.
  • Check that all the above files exist, if they do not, reinstall LCPDFR with the automatic installation.
  • Ensure that you are using up to date versions of every LCPDFR dependency and LCPDFR itself.
  • Install these: http://www.microsoft...9f-b21f31ab88b7, http://www.microsoft...&displaylang=en
  • Run a diagnostic report (found here: ) which will point any errors it can find and will be used later on if you need to post a topic.

- Complied with topic posting procedure in this section

If you need to post a topic requesting support, make sure that you do the following:

  • Give a clear, detailed description of the problem.
  • Explain any circumstances surrounding the problem.
  • State what solutions you have tried.
  • Post your diagnostics report log dump.
  • Post any other relevant logs.
  • Include as much information as possible.

A few things that might help

1) turn of User Account Control completly, it's a junk program, it even asks you if you want to run a Microsoft program, are their own programs so crap you might now want to run them?

2) set your DEP to Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only. That way it won't block any additional programs, if you need the additional protection, download SpyBot.

The owners are quite busy. Bumping your topic's also is more likely to get your warned and banned than helped. Can we get system specs?

*EDIT* I'm not familiar with that Start Game screen, check to see that your using the latest version of GTA IV.

No.. Don't run your game by the launcher. Go to your main GTA:IV directory and run LaunchGTAIV.exe as an administrator. Also, you are not allowed to bump topics. People will get to it when they can get to it.
