Is it possible to generate a vehicle texture template?

Featured Replies

Greetings all,

I recently downloaded some classic cop cars (1971 Dodge Polara, 1972 and 1978 Plymouth Furies) for GTA:SA and unfortunately the websites do not supply any sort of texture templates for the vehicles. I read somewhere that it is possible to use a 3D modeling program to "generate" texture templates for a vehicle based on the model characteristics; I was wondering if anyone knew anything about that and if so could give me a name at least of the software that could do it and maybe a quick idea of how?

Sadly not, if the original author hasn't provided one its likely they don't want you doing it or they forgot. Try contacting the original author, otherwise no there isn't a way to generate one.

My apologies for my ignorance as I know nothing about modeling, but how do you make a template for a vehicle in the first place may I ask?

No apology nessecary. When the author of the model is editing it in Zmodeler, the software used to export vehicle files, they map specific parts of the model to a template image they create by cutting those parts of the vehicle and matching them to the plate. Only the person with the unlocked model file can do this.

I see, thank you for the information. Unfortunately the creators of the cars either don't speak English or don't respond to emails, so ripperino.
