No patchday files, heck, no update files at all!

I would really like to add some more vehicles to my game. I just purchased it through steam and I dont even have an update folder.

 

What can I do to add vehicles?

Do you mean you have no update folder at all?  If so, I think you may of had a bad install.

 

Even though you will not be using the update folder for mods, it is still required.

 

To clarify, in your main GTA folder, you should have an update folder AND a mods folder.

Ah youre right.

 

So, I have the update folder but no mods folder. I just tried using OIV to install the LSPD mega pack. I tried to install the mods folder and it auto install failed. So then I installed to the GTA V folder and now the game crashes.

 

What the heck is the correct way I need to do this?

The mods folder is one you have to add in yourself.

 

Open the the GTA main directory, right click-->new folder.  Create a folder named mods all lowercase.

 

From here, open OpenIV, and go into the vanilla update folder and find your install path for whatever mod, such as patchday19 for vehicles.  Click "edit mode" at the top, and you will see a red notification box telling you this is not the mods folder, and you'll have an option of creating that path in the mods folder.  That's how you create the content in the mods folder.

Thanks that makes sense. I followed those instructions and the auto install worked correctly using the mods folder. However now its crashing during load. Log attached.

What is it you're trying to install?  You said LSPD mega pack, which file is this?

We're closer! I installed that config. Then I installed the megapack using the auto install. It was successful but the vehicles were not here.

Er, what do you mean "not there"?  When you tried spawning them, what happened?

First of all thank you for the follow ups and help.

 

I decided to start from the beginning and use one of the most popular modpack.  

 

 

1. Copied patchday19ng to mods folder using OpenIV
2. Added police3.yft, police3.ytd, and police3_hi.yft to vehicles.rpf using OpenIV
3. copied the ELS file police3.xml to GTA/ElS/Pack_Default
4. Copied /update/update/common/data folders to mods folder
5. Launched Game
6. Game crashes

BTW Right away I knew something would be off, for some reason if my game launches in full screen I know it will either crash or computer+ wont load.

 

Please let me know which part of my stops are off. Thanks

For step #4, did you copy those over because you were changing something?  If so, what did you change?

I was copying that over so that I could then use the HazardHound config you suggested.

Alright, lets do it like this just to verify something.

 

Go into your mods folder, delete everything.

 

Now, go and copy the update section and add in the HazardHound config.

 

Start the game and verify if it's working.

 

Let me know the results.  Either way, we'll continue from there.

3. Added the hazard config to /GTA/Update/Update.rpf/common/data
4. Launched via RagePluginHook.exe
5. GTA is full screen (not a good sign)
6. Loading Story Mode with RAGE hook plugin is during load screen
7. F4 Does not bring up console
8. Computers+ does not load

Alright so lets re-write all my plugins now.

Try launching Rage again.  This time, when the Rage logo shows up, click the gear icon in the lower left.

 

Go into Rage's settings and check "forced windowed mode"

 

Now save and launch.  What are the results? Does your console and Computer+ work?

Holy hell we're working! I have a ford explorer, ELS is working, my computer+ is working!!

 

Now I just have to learn how to use ELS, looks like it overlaps a lot of controls. Any suggestions or should I just read the docs?

May have spoken too soon, ELS lights dont appear to be working correctly. I'm only getting the tail lights to flash.

If you're using J on the keyboard there are different lighting modes. Pressing it once turns on warning, twice secondary and three times everything is lit up.

 

If you're already doing this, make sure your els xml is properly copied over and try adding the car in OpenIV again.

I had to reinstall the addins on openIV, now they work but the color seems off.

 

I made sure graphic settings are correct and am now reading I may need to change brightness?
