Until then, I'm not siding with some accused criminal over the Police.

Quite the leap to suggest questioning the police means siding with criminals!

I do not necessarily disagree with you though! I served as a special constable (volunteer police officer for non-UK users) for a few years and no one bats at an eye at the vast majority of interactions because they are routine and you can assume on the basis of probability the officer is doing everything 'by the book' and what is expected of them, but I think we are losing sight of the original point and perhaps I possibly could have clarified this better in the previous post.  So I'll clarify, when I say "people like to hold LEOs to a higher standard" I mean people do not want to see police officers acting on the same level as common gangs.

Most reasonable and sane people will not look at GTALawEnforcer's posts and think "I think he 'll make a great police officer" because so far he does not measure up to what expectations people have of police. I.e. understanding the role isn't about revenge or retribution. It's what separates us from 'them'.
