Car mods invisible until close range?

Featured Replies

So I've got a fairly large project going on. It's basically replacing every vehicle in the game with its real life counterpart. I've pretty much gotten through every vehicle except a few. But I'm noticing one thing. As I continue to do more, the other cars are bugging out. The only bug I notice is a weird one where if a car is, say a block away from me, I can only see people inside of them. If I get closer, the model actually loads in. Now I'm sure you're thinking, "It's probably just the car model". And I thought that too. But after replacing it with a new one, it seems that more and more keep doing it. For example, the cavalcade2 was completely fine when I was getting started with the mods. Now that I am almost done with all of them, it is now doing the glitch. Any tips?

I've got my graphics on max for everything as far as I know.

I'm running a Titan XP, more than enough space for all the mods.

I'm thinking that you are replacing every vehicle in the game with cars that are a high quality (as in 2K or 4K quality) than they previously were. All these 4K textures are too much for the game to handle so is bugs out.

I might be wrong though.

No, you're spot on.  As much as people want the full real life experience in GTA, it's not going to happen.  I honestly don't even think having a top quality PC will prevent this from happening.  Most real life models (civilian cars) are high poly and will ruin your shit in minutes.

However, in this specific case, the models have shitty LODs, so from afar they aren't loaded.  His solution is to go into the vehicles.meta and change the LODdistance to 500 for all, however, this will only further cause problems as before mentioned.  Changing the LODs in the meta means these vehicles be loaded in fully as they spawn in.  Citybuild, I get what you're wanting to do, but it's not going to work.  I'd stick with vanilla civilian vehicles, or just change one or two.

I need donations to help fund my food addiction. DM for details 😂

Pretty much what Kallus Giordano & DS said.

I found this out the hard way after many, many uninstalls/reinstalls of mods/vehicles/everything under the sun.

I thought my rig: i5-6600k (OC), GTX1070 6GB, 16gb mem would more than suffice and be able to handle multiple civilian cars (3-15)...I was wrong. Biggest Issue I found was people driving invisible cars (only ped texture would load in).

Clearing out the civ cars and keeping all my mods the same got me back to running smoothly.
