i opened the asi file by accident now i have the notepad icon i want to revert back.. I need help to fix it

You're going to have to do some magical registry editing in order to reset the 'open with' properties.

 

Press the start button, and type in 'regedit' - this will open the Registry Editor.

 

Once the Registry Editor is opened, press the 'Edit' tab on the top, click on "Find" - search for '.asi'

 

Watching the top navigation bar, press F3 until it reads:

 

"Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.asi"

 

Then, in the left hand side, click on the little arrow next to the .asi folder. Navigate to the 'OpenWithList' section.

 

In the right hand box, delete all entries except the '(Default)' entry. The system will prompt you saying that making the changes may result in system instability, but just dismiss the message by pressing 'OK'

 

Then, navigate to 'OpenWithProgids' - and do the exact same as you did above. Delete all entries except the '(Default)' entry.

 

Now, close the Registry Editor, restart your computer, and the .asi files should no longer open with the notepad.

 

I don't see what is so life-altering about having .asi files being opened by the Notepad - but, there is a way to fix it through the Registry Editor.

Having it changed to the Notepad icon does not mean the file was changed.  It's still a .asi plugin, the only difference is that when you double click on it, Notepad is the default program that will open it.

Ok thank you because on load screen. I don’t  have words like loading lspdfr eup etc. I get into the game I have a box on the left saying if I don’t see a message in the center of the screen.  Go to rage hook discord about direct x n rage hook

I'm having the same issue. I accidently changed the ASI  like Stop-Ped addon and after i download it and it goes to open, notepad opens up and a bunch of symbols open up. Does this mean that the program is shot? or can the addon still work? curious... if not.. how can i revert the program to open up as " Unknown " origin as it was downloaded from?

Please read the above messages.

It doesn't matter what you use to open it. The file still remains the same.

Also, STP doesn't use ASI.
