I'm pretty new to modding GTA and have a lot put into LSPDFR should i be expecting it all to crash when GTA releases it's new update on the 12th?

If you have a modded game directory, as in vehicles, weapons, sounds, etc, LSPDFR/Rage working is the least of it.  The worst part about modding is that all your modded game files, specifically the ones I just mentioned, will always cease to work with GTA updates.  Rage will stop working, but only because it needs to be updated (and possibly ScriptHookV, sometimes).  That is more of a waiting game on your part for the update to be released.

After the update, you'll just have to re-add your stuff manually.

No sir. The only files that are affected are update.rpf edits and the dlclist.xml file(s) if you use added mod DLC packs. Anything you've modified in dlcpacks or previous (x64e.rpf or similar) locations will remain unaffected. If you care about actually updating your modded game, just make copies in an external location of all your update.rpf edits. Then you can drag those back in or sort out ones that have been changed with the new update. If a vehicle file you modified appears to be replaced, there's a new update to one of the cars in a dlc.rpf that you'll need to change.
