IRL Patrol Live Streams

Featured Replies

My agency doesn't allow me to stream/twitch my shifts. It's a possible violation of the rights of the people you encounter, and can put yourself and your agency liable for anything recorded.

It's all dependent upon your agency and their polices. I know there's one Indian Territory officer who streams, but shuts it off anytime he encounters an incident or makes contact with anyone.

True, I don't want to leak anyone's private information and license information and it's very risky. I don't think I'm going to do it, but thought about doing the very similar although it's kind of pointless leaving out all of the good parts everyone wants to see.

Does anyone know of any IRL patrols live streams / videos for Twitch and youtube NOT by news, Live PD, etc.? A few of my subs have requested I start doing them just not sure if it goes against Twitch and youtube policy.

There was a guy who was a small town cop and would stream his patrols.  If he ever had someone in the back he'd end the stream immediately.  Twitch, and even his superiors were fine with the stream until during one of his streams it abruptly ended.   He said the feds had told him to stop, but I don't know if he meant the actual feds or higher-higher up the food chain, but I imagine the latter.  It's a real shame, this guy was amazing and had a good sense of humor.  Now his stream is kinda dead.  I'll never understand why people throw a fit about patrol live streams.  If done right, they can do wonders in terms of public relations and can allow the officer/deputy to let off some healthy steam while on duty.

Chicago Municipal had an officer FaceBook live stream all of his 911 calls a while back, but stopped. The chief actually requested as he wanted transparency with the community so everyone could get a better understanding of what we go through. I am a bit surprised hardly anyone does it now, but you are playing with fire if you do it.

If I do it later on it's only going to be traffic enforcement with the recording camera mounted on my dash that stays there.

That's what the officer did that I mentioned.  The only time the forward facing camera on his phone was on him was when he was stopped for a few running radar or what not.  The whole privacy thing can EASILY be dealt with accordingly, there is no logical reason for officers NOT to livestream patrols.  I rarely watch Twitch, but if there was an officer livestreaming, I'd gladly go and spend hours watching him.
