Prevent GTA V Updates

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I know there has been many topics, however a lot refer to the Steam version and only mention the retail version. I am on the retail version.

I had used GTA V Update Blocker for Retail (http://www.lcpdfr.com/files/file/13209-gta-v-update-blocker/) however it is now no longer working.

  • On blocking updates and trying to load the game through the program with RHP as advised, it states "update service is unavailable (code 202). A lot of the time it freezes on the 'offline mode' selection. Choosing offline mode when prompted will then ask me to sign in, and then not load saying the GTA V servers are unavailable. Otherwise if not this, RHP simply opens, and the game fails to load.
  • Loading 'GTA V' only through the update blocker will allow me to play SP.

If I just try to use the command line text "-scOfflineOnly" it simply makes me log in each time I load the game, but does not appear to be 'offline'.

I know you can make a copy and use a combo of items mentioned in a thread regarding avoiding updates, however with the retail version and no effect from the blocker program or the SC offline command line text, I don't think it will work.

Is there a reason as to why the update blocker wont work, or another way for us on the Retail version to dodge updates?

Update 1: While typing this I managed to get RHP to load through the program, it is the first time all day. Is there a possible conflict with the newer version of RHP and the blocking app or something? Or could it take more than 30mins for the setting to be applied, DNS flushed, etc?

Update 2.

No options work. If I launch via the blocker, or through normal RHP, or normal game, I get the activation error regardless.

Any help welcome, thanks.
