so just try both files and see which one works then press f4 and insert if not working

No, only load in via RagePluginHook.  If you load in via GTA5.exe, your mods will not be loaded or working.

i renamed it so both files are saying grand theft auto V but i think they have different files in each

yes i have rage in both files

The folder within Rockstar games needs to be GTA V, while the one in your program files should be Grand Theft Auto V.  Please go back and watch the tutorials I linked.  You should only have Rage in one location.

so rename the rockstar file as gta v ok ill watch when get home let you know if need further assistants

so which file should rage only be in

To be quite honest, I don't know why you installed a modded game in two different directories.  At this point, your best bet would be to reinstall GTA and follow the tutorials thoroughly,  Otherwise, you need to start deleting a lot of the extra GTA/Rage/LSPDFR files.
