If you read the description for the video you see he had training from a friend.  Since in Florida the friend may well be a professional.  As gator are common in the state.  Heck, I remember they found a gator in base housing at Eglin AFB when I was down there.

That doesn't change the fact that this officer has balls of steel.  Getting training from someone is one thing, but to actually be in that situation and have to act?  One wrong move and he could've lost a limb.

I fairly the training involved doing with his guidance.  Is there risk. Sure there always a risk.  But in not rocket science.  You noticed he drop his jacket on the gator to calm it down before trying to hold is mouth closed.
