GTA V uses up 100% Disk Usage

Featured Replies

Hello, I am having a big problem with GTA V.  Whenever I launch GTA V, after a good 10 minutes of playing, I will get major lag spikes and the game will freeze up every few seconds. This usually happens when I'm driving. I took a look at my Usage reports and discovered that my disk usage shot up to 100 whenever these lag spikes occured, but went back down afterwards. I'm not sure what to do about it. This happens If I'm playing with/or without mods. Below are my system specs, any help is appreciated.

CPU: Quad Core i5 4400S @2.8 GHZ.

GPU: Nvidia GTX 970.

RAM: 8GB RAM.

1TB of Hard Drive Space.

Windows 10 Home.

My recommendation would be to get a SSD, or try and see if anything else is accessing your disk whilst playing. GTA V can be pretty brutal to the hard disk if the hard disk is also the system disk.

If I put my System files on My SSD, would that also help? My HDD is partitioned into 3 different drives, with my System being on the C: Drive, and GTA being on my D: Drive. But in reality, they are on the same drive. I'd hope that if I put my system files on my SSD, then GTA would run better on my HDD.
