Thanks for making a post,

Please provide the following information:

  • A picture of your GTA IV Directory
  • A picture of your LCPD:FR Directory

Also, do you know if you are on patch 1.7 or 1.8? If you don't know, here's how to find out:

Spoiler

1. Go to your GTA IV Root Directory

2. Go to GTAIV.exe (not LaunchGTAIV.exe)

3. Right click on Properties

4. Go to the Details tab

5. Please list what the 'product' and 'file' versions list.

Please also do this:

Spoiler

1. Head to your GTA IV Root Directory

2. Head to the LCPDFR Folder

3. Launch the diagnostics tool

4. Click on 'Check your Installation'

5. Please provide a picture of what the green (and or potentially red) bars and the text next to them

6. Please also provide the diagnostics file that it will generate, that can be found in the LCPD:FR Directory

Here are some things you can try in the mean time:

Spoiler

Ensure you are running as administrator

Right Click on LaunchGTAIV, go to properties, compatibility and set it to run with XP Service Pack 3.

If one of these worked for you, please respond saying that your issues are solved.

Both say 1.0.7.0

And on the last one I don't have  the compatibility tab for launchgtaiv.exe only for gtaiv.exe and when I set the gtaiv.exe to run as xp service pack 3 it just caused a secu launcher error which I fixed by disabling the run xp service pack 3 and I run steam as administrator so shouldn't it be in administrator and I have also just tried launching the gtaiv.exe in directory as administrator and I still get the lcpdfr_loader.loader error

Have you recently installed any additional car packs, ped skins and scripts?

I'm not 100% sure but I have verified game cache on steam multiple times and to answer your first response I have uninstalled and reinstalled lcpdfr multiple times with the manual and automatic install and I checked my plugins and scripts folders and there empty except scripts has the lcpdfr_loader.loader in it and ingame  I have the vanilla cars in game

I had the same problem heres the fix I used

step 1 delete dsound.dll

step 2 if you do not have LCPD First Response 1.1 Manual Install download it from here

step 3 highlight everything in the file and drag into gta iv root folder either in C:\Program Files (x86)\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV\ or

 C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto IV\GTAIV

and you are done it should work now.

Ok if you have a trainer try this

step 1 delete dsound.dll

step 2 delete scripthook.dll

step 3 delete scripthook,dll - OLD PATCHES

step 4 delete scripthook LICENSE

step 5 delete trainer.asi

step 6 delete trainer.ini

step 7 open LCPD First Response 1.1 Manual Install file and drag everything in the file into the gta iv root folder overwrite if asked

step 8 open the trainer file and copy everything apart from scripthook.dll and put it in the gta iv root folder
