So I've been downloading, deleting and re-trying for the past 2 days to try and get this mod working as it simply looks amazing and I so badly need it.  I have looked up many tutorials and followed all of their steps, but when I launch Rage for the first time through set-up and configure it, it will load GTA then a few seconds later crash, with the GTA launcher popping up saying GTA has unexpectantly quit.  Then after that the shortcut for Rage no longer works and I cannot find the .exe file to re-launch. 

 

I don't have anti-virus other than windows defender which I *THINK* I have turned off, according to the checks the application done I meet all of the requirements, and I have the latest game patch/scripthook/rage.  Whenever I launch the game it just appears normally with only the Scripthook working.   Please, please help!

 

What game version?
 

Do not turn off Wndows Defender, whitelist the game folder and RAGEPluginHook.exe from it.

 

What Ragehook version?

 

Have you restarted Steam and your computer?

Have you verified the integrity of the game cache?

yeah, I have windows defender running- that's not it, doesn't crash games.

when it crashes an you should see a RAGERHook big white message box also along with the rockstar crashed message.

 

that is your RAGEHook crash report, open it, copy an paste it here (use spoiler box, the eye symbol here) that will tell you/us whats wrong.

a screenshot of your game folder would also help.

 

 somethings not right in install or file you don't have, or have in right place..its a long troubleshooting task, just look at my thread, and it was simple- clear temp files.

 

do you have the LSPD First Response dll and pdb files in the Plugins folder?

Is your game folder Named 'Grand Theft Auto V' ?

are you clicking on the RAGEHook exe IN the Game Folder?

can you run the game normally without using RAGEHook, like shortcut or thru Steam?

Hover mouse over both RAGEHook exe and GTAV shortcut in game folder. what versions are they?.

 

If game wont run normally- verify thru steam- I made this awhile ago tells you how. CAN take quite a bit a time-

I've just excluded the Grand Theft Auto V folder from being scanned, it was the only option I could see in windows defender which looked like it would whitelist it.

 

I have the latest game version v1032 and the latest ragehook which says it supports this game version. 

 

I have restarted my computer and Steam multiple times after trying different ways of installing them.

 

I haven't yet verified the integrity of the game cache, would I need to if my GTA game is running normally anyway?

No. But you didn't say that your game is running normal in the original post. That is a basic detail you should provide if you want to help isolate the issue.

 

Is the name of your game folder "Grand Theft Auto V" (without quotes)? It cannot be one letter different.

So this morning I downloaded it all again, for the third time, doing the exact same as I did previously and it somehow works! Not that I'm complaining.  Thank you anyway, I have absolutely no idea why it did not work previously.
