SHould I try LCPDFR?

Featured Replies

So after the last update for GTA V, NOTHING works. Gta won't load, RPH won't load, and R* just announced yet another sh*tty update that will break the game even more... So I'm done.

My question is, should I give GTA IV a shot and install LCPDFR?? The way i figure it is, at least they aren't constantly breaking things with updates in GTA IV. Plus I think Liberty city is a cooler setting anyway.

GTA IV is unstable in itself, so adding LCPDFR + mods +plugins will most likely result in crashes, So beware. LCPDFR is quite fun though.

Right, but I heard that with windows 10 it's much more stable.

Windows 10 helped. but you'll still experience crashes if you're using car mods and what not. GTA IV was a crappy PC port.

Also, Where did you hear this infomation from? I've checked Twitter, Facebook and RGSC and nothing about an update?

Admittedly it was a Youtuber lol, I was just hoping because I really  enjoy LSPDFR but am so fed up with CONSTANTLY fixing the stuff R* Breaks.

As i said, after the last two updates GTA V is completely broken, it won't even start on its own without RPH....

And at this point I would have to reinstall everything which I've already done a few times, it takes HOURS to get everything installed and in the right place.  I know thats how modding goes, but I've modded other games and NONE are this much of a PITA.

I just hate R*  lol

Well the YouTuber is wrong, there is no new GTA V update coming. Modding and the game itself is completely fine on the latest update. It's alot easier if you have two GTA V folders (one for vanilla and the other for modding) that way GTA can update without you having to mess around re-adding your mods because your mods folder is broken. When i had a mods folder it was a PITA.. but now i don't use one everything is fine, GTA update, i wait until scripts and all that are updates and yet every other mod is fine :D

The down side of having two directories is if you want to play non-modded/online you have to switch the folder names over (since you need it to be Grand Theft Auto V).

Well again, I have to admit i was not using a mods folder, never quite understood how that worked.

Eventually i'll reinstall it and do it properly, I'm just bitching.

And no, the modding itself isn't difficult, but trying to keep everything working with the constant onslaught of unwanted updates is quite annoying and difficult at times.

The only things that break are scripts. Which happens to every game. Plus updates only come every couple of months, it's not a weekly thing. So waiting 3-5 days for scripts to be updated isn't bad.

If you're not using a mods folder then there is really no need to reinstall everything/fix everything since it's just scripts that break

Yes, but as i said, I can't get gta to load even by itself without RPH, it crashes shortly after the social club login screen.

Sooooo, I'll have to download the file cache (through steam) and start over, which is more or less the same as "reinstalling" .

Plus I got a second hard drive a while ago and have been meaning to install GTA on the second drive anyway, I guess i can just take this opportunity to install it there.

Are you sure? I either read, or received and e-mail, from or over rockstar releasing an update on April 26th. I actually think it may have been on my loading screen. Something about tiny cars or some more stupid shit. I actually came here to find out if there will be any issues with this upcoming update?

A new update is coming (which wasn't announced at the time of this topic creation) and yes it will most likely break modding. Depends if it's just new GTA Online races (as what was shown can already be done in game) or if it's an update itself

Ah okay i see. Is there anything i can do to be proactive in preventing anything from breaking, or is it just a waiting game?

Getting gta 4 was the biggest gaming mistake I have ever made. It's a mater of quality or crash reduction. You either have less crashes and crappy quality or have good quality and want to throw your laptop out a window. If you enjoy a challenge I recommend it. I use windows 10 with London enb els and police helper without the tow truck and coroner mod and crash every hour. Less scripts usually make a more stable game. It's all a matter of what you want to put yourself through. If you have a decent computer you shouldn't  have any problems. If you do use gta  4 and lcpdfr good luck.

See that's the thing, LSPDFR crashes about once an hour for me. Or at the very least strange things start happening, like all the NPC's disappearing, which is a real issue that I've personally had since like RPH .38....

So maybe I should give it a try.... I'm just waiting for it to go on sale, which I realize is a LOOOOONG shot at best lol.

@OfficerKnox It's an old game so it will probably be cheap. I have the steam version but the steam version has glitches for me. I can't explain what happend. I recommend buying it in disc form. If your feeling like got a 5 isn't the way to go trust me it is. Have a great day.
