[HOW TO] Stopping AdBlocker Banner when AdBlock is disabled

Featured Replies

For those of you who are still seeing the "Ad blocking software detected" banner disabled, I've found a solution...

First of all, if you haven't already, switch to uBlock Origin. It's a much better alternative to AdBlock. It's more effective in blocking adverts, and uses less resources in doing so.

  1. Turn uBlock off for LCPDFR.com.
  2. Head to uBlock Options > Whitelist
  3. Add the following to your whitelist on it's own seperate line:
    g17media.com
  4. Hit Apply Changes

And you're done! You've not only improved your ad-blocking solution, but you've stopped the "Adblocker Detected" banner on LCPDFR!

just added ublock origin, from a bit of testing it definitely seems to be doing a much better job, a tip of my hat to you.

although added "g17media.com" didnt whitelist lcpdfr, added "lcpdfr.com" did work.

It's not LCPDFR.com that's the problem though. The domain "G17Media.com" is on a list that is used to determine if it serves ads. Since it incorrectly categorises "g17media" as an ad-serving domain, it blocks all requests to that domain, which is then detected by the LCPDFR to show you as using an adblocker even when you've turned it off for the LCPDFR.com domain.

Obviously whatever works for you is perfect, just an explanation for anyone who's interested as to the source of the original problem. Why it's different for you I have no idea.
