Looks like you might have to update your Direct X for your video card. I think. Or you can try changing your screen resolution

i did both and nothing happened

"Here is a workaround to fix this by reducing the color quaility from highest quality of True Color (32 bit) to lower quality of High Color (16 bit). Right click on Desktop >> select Screen Resolution >> Advanced settings >> Monitor tab. and change the display resolution. Else you can also reduce the desktop display resolution to 800×600 pixels as GTA 4 runs properly at this resolution. Once you are in the game, change back to original resolution."

i did that and nothing still same error

Lets make sure your computer can even run GTA properly... http://www.canirunit.com follow the onscreen instructions if that checks out, update your graphic card drivers and try the game again

try updating your drivers for the card to fix the shader

were can i do that

go to control panel, System, where theres a side bare on that screen , device manger, locate your display adapter, (i think not sure if its different on a desktop right now) double click whats listed as the adapter, click the driver tab, update

it say they are up to date

then your graphics card may not be able to handle GTA it seems

ok then what graphics card can i buy my computer is a Sony Vaio it was a xp but i programmed it with a new hard driver and windows 7

Viao? A laptop? You cant change those easily....and it's gonna cost you more to get an all new mother board with a different processor and graphics...

gddr3 is good, and thats an ok card, but you gotta make sure your computer has the right specs to run such a "monster"
