FPS Drops on High End PC

Featured Replies

I know this has been answered before, but nothing seems to be working in my case. I've had GTA V with LSPDFR for about a year now, and it used to run perfectly fine. I normally get from 50-60 FPS constantly. Now, I will run solid 50-60, but when I do certain things, my FPS will drop to the 30-40 range. I will try to include some information so anyone who can help knows what my situation is. Opening the traffic stop menu results in my FPS dropping to around 38-42. If I use Computer+, after exiting the computer menu, I will drop to almost exactly 37 FPS and be stuck there. Some random FPS drops occur too, and can lower me to below 30 FPS. I'm running GTA V on an ASUS ROG G752VL with a GTX 965M, and have 16GBs of RAM. I don't know if this is an issue with GTA V or something like too many processes running (I have tried ending all other processes to no avail), but I mainly want to know if I can fix it and how. Thanks to anyone who can offer advice.

I'm assuming all runs fine in normal GTA without mods, so have you tried running LSPDFR bare and adding/retesting while adding back a few mods at a time?

Typically for me when I end up getting issues like this its a particular plugin or combination of plugins that cause frame drops.

I was actually planning on trying that, and I'm thinking that it might be a script seeing as someone who has almost the exact same mods as me is having the same issue. I'll try it with scripts first, and if that doesn't work I'll try a fresh install with only LSPDFR.

Ok, so I've finally gotten to reinstall GTA V again. It runs perfectly fine without any mods, and perfectly fine with only LSPDFR. I'm going to install mods one at a time to see what the problem is.

Yeah, it works alone, but once I start adding plugins things start to go downhill and cap off at 37 FPS.

Odd, I had this too a while back, but to a lesser extent. When I'd load LSPDFR (with addon plugins) my FPS would drop from 60+ to about 45. In the past month or two it seems to have fixed it self as it know runs at 60FPS.

In general, mods will decrease performance.  Nothing can really change this.  My advice is to figure out which mod(s) cause the most lag and remove them.

The problem I have is that there is seemingly no pattern as to when it lags. Nothing seems to be triggering it. It also confuses me because I was able to run it perfectly fine before I had my hard drive replaced with an SSD. I don't know what that would have to do with it.

My main problem now is the game locking at 37 FPS, which confuses me because I can and have outperformed that, and also because of the number itself. Why 37? It uncaps after I pause and unpause the game, and recaps at random intervals, which is really annoying.

@Vampyre When I was testing I had no add-on or replaced cars. Still, 37 FPS caps for some reason. I know I can get in the 50-70 range with high settings because I have done it before, but settings don't seem to impact it either.

@VESCommissioner33You're not alone , old sport! I possess a high-end system : EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 SC ACX 3.0 Graphics Card ( 8 GB GDDR5X) , i7 3770 ( 3.40 GHZ) and 12 GB RAM ; I experience severe performance degradation , upon going on duty. I'm talking an avg of 28fps in the city ; moreover , specific areas dotted around the map , evoke drops to 23fps (e.g. near the Chinese theatre and passing under bridge located next to Fleeca branch on Great Ocean Highway). Not forgetting , intense stutter , exclusive to LSPDFR, throughout. Albeit , running GTA 5 , with RAGE Plugin disabled , my avg fps increases overall ; apparent fps drops are capped at 43 fps , in specific areas. Typical avg is 74-88fps in the city , coupled by contextual , fps consolidation , exceeding 100 fps in the city. In the country , however , I sit in the 88-94fps ; fps jumps exceeding 100fps , occur at regular intervals. Ever since 3.1's release , performance has gone to shit ; one was an avid , LSPDFR user... Now I can barely last 5 mins , without feeling , violently ill. Simply , deplorable.

All mods.  It doesn't matter if it's a script or plugin, they can still cause a performance hit depending on what it does.
