Hello!

 

After the new patch I am running into a problem.

Every time I try to start the game same thing happens.

 

The game seems to load normally up to the intro screen, where the Rockstar logo should appear, with the gunshots and sirens in background.

Then this screen just remains totally black forever.

It does not crash or produce any error messages, just stays there like if it was loading.

Alt-Tabbing out of it makes it crash though.

 

I run the Steam version, it happens exactly the same both with and without Rage Hook or any other mods at all. It started immediately after Steam installed the update. Before that everything was working fine.

Does it have anything to do with the vanilla game?

I do not have any additional cars in my game.

In fact there are no mods at all there currently.

The reason I am asking is that I would like to keep the game as vanilla as possible apart from the police mods.

I mention trying my gameconfig because for some people, for whatever reason, the gameconfig may be causing issues.  We can hold off on doing that for now.

 

Try deleting your mods folder, and remaking it.  Do the exact thing you did to make it in the first place.

The mods folder did not exist in the first place.

I only had LSPDFR and various plugins for it installed.

 

As for the gameconfig and the dlclist files, if they are known to cause trouble, should I delete them and let Steam download them again just in case mine are not fully stock?

No, and they don't cause issues for everyone, just some.  Have you modded your game already?  Weapons, vehicles, etc?

There were several added emergency vehicles quite a while ago. And they were added through the mods folder.

However currently there are no mods whatsoever.

In fact I had to remove them because a new update broke the mods folder just never got to install them back.

That's what I was hinting at.  I had hoped you hadn't modded anything without the folder.

I installed the latest Rage Hook and launched the game.

The Hook apparently worked fine but as soon as the game itself was about to start it displayed its previous behaviour.

It was sitting there for a couple of minutes before I forced it to quit as before.

 

Whether I launch through Rage Hook or through Steam, or even with the Hook removed from the game directory, the behaviour is the same.

What updated, exactly?  GTA V?

Yes.

Steam installed update 877 into GTA.

Ahh, then that's why.  You need to update RPH, and possibly, if it still doesn't load, redo your mods folder.

I did update the Rage Hook immediately after the game update.

Then the issue appeared when I tried to start it.

The thing is that it does not work even completely vanilla. No mods. No Rage Plugin Hook. No Scripts.

Did you have any graphics or sound mods installed prior?

No, I never used them at all

This may not make any difference, but Open RPH, go to the "advanced settings" tab.  Uncheck "enable counter measures against online vehicles being removed in single player." 

 

Try to play again.

Tried it.

Does not seem to change anything unfortunately.

Double check your firewall.  Make sure GTA V is not being blocked.
