Location ofCarvariations + Vehicle.meta files for all police cars (most upto date)

Featured Replies

Hey guys.

I've downloaded the 2016 CHP Megapack, which I have to say is gorgeous! I'm a complete nub to modding GTA V so am just getting to grips with it all. I have been looking for the carvariations.meta and vehicles.meta files for all the modded vehicles, to replace them with the lines supplied in the modpack, but have had no luck due to everything getting updated (why are they moving this stuff around?! It seems ridiculous!) - I have looked everywhere and cannot find the correct files for the correct vehicles etc.

I'm in the stages of making a list for myself of where they all are at this present time: 16/08/16, but it's getting ridiculous to keep looking for these files to edit the lines. I simply, for the life of me, cannot find them.

Does anyone know an easy way to install all the vehicles.meta and carvariations.meta all at once for their correct vehicles, or would I be dreaming? If not, where on earth are the individual files for them.. Clearly GTA V is a lot more fiddly and time consuming than GTA IV when it comes to installing vehicles and handling lines etc..

A friend send me the file which includes all of the vehicle locations which helped me a lot. Does anyone have anything similar for the files I'm looking for and their respective vehicles?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

Nick

Just read the readme's that comes with the mod, and that should say where to put every .meta and vehicle file :)

I know that, but what I'm saying is, it that since the mods were released, the locations have changed as patches are released. That's why I'm asking if anyone knows where the most up to date ones are :)

I might have to try that! I don't think I have a patchday 9 though :P

Nope, only a patch day 5...

I lie, I found it!

I just put all of my mods into patchday11 and mpstunt....
The game really doesn't care where you put them as long as it's not being overwritten by a new version.

And what about carvariations etc? I found one, but it only contains Policeb. If I were to add a supplied carvariations line underneath that, would it still have an effect?

I'd like to know as well.

Hi there.  In the future, please just create a new topic.  This topic was last posted in over a year ago, it's a lot easier to just make a new topic.

Carvariations for police, police2, police3, etc are hard coded into the game, you won't be able to find/edit those.  However, you can paste in new carvariation lines for these slots as needed.  In OpenIV go to mods/update/x64/dlcpacks/mpchristmas2/dlc/common/data.  Next, extract the carvariations to your desktop and open it.  Copy this carvariation line:

and paste it as a new entry in the carvariations, but do not delete any other carvariation lines.  The only editing you need to do from here is change the <modelName> to match the slot you're trying to use it in.  Some files will have you change the sirensettings.  Don't do this unless either a) The file tells you to. or b) You know what you're doing.

Finally, after adding in your line, save it.  Now, in OpenIV, click "edit mode" at the top.  Now drag and drop the edited carvariations on your desktop to the same exact place you got it from.  Click "edit mode" again and you're good.

For standalone/addon cars, essentially the same thing. Rename <modelName> to your standalone car and add it in as instructed above.

Since this topic was necro'd, I'm going to go ahead and close it.  Tntmurda, if you require more help, please do make your own thread and I'll pop in. :)
