Installing new cars

Featured Replies

I know you need to use Open IV to install new cars but I am not real sure where they go. Seems each one is different. I've downloaded this one here:

I cann't see anywhere in the readme about the installation path. It just gives me the police.ytd, police.yft, police_hi.yft, and police+hi.ytd.

Any help is appreciated!

Pinned on top of the GTA V support forum, just saying

I saw that and it says to use the patchday10ng, but I could not find the police.ytd, ytf, etc, etc files in that one.

If you read it thoroughly, it says to IMPORT the models. You don't need to replace existing models.

Please read the guide completely, follow the steps, and it'll work.

Thank you very very very kindly for that guide. I understand now why you rather I READ IT rather than just tell me which directory to drag and drop my files in. Understanding how this game loads files is quite important when it comes to this, interesting.

Thanks again, my car seems to load just fine now, and as a BONUS I'll know why they're named police2, 3, 4, etc, etc in order to decide which model I want to replace. That being said can I just add the next number in the line to ADD a car rather than replace it? I think the police have 3 cars, so if I change the name to police4 would that just add a 4th police selection with the model I added? rather than replacing the first one?

Anyways, Thanks again bud!

@GunnDawg Here is the list of all of the Police/Sheriff/FIB vehicles so you know what each one represents. In response to your previous message if you add "police4" then whatever model you are wanted to add into the game will replace the Unmarked CVPI (police4), however there is a mod that allows you 20 additional slots to add more police vehicles without replacing the original models stated down below. If you read the "Read Me" that the author supplied with the model you downloaded it will say which file it needs to be added into and which vehicle it will replace like for example you want to add the 2015 Dodge Charger it will replace police2 (Police Buffalo). Most of the vehicles go in GTA V > x64e.rpf > levels > gta5 > vehicles.rpf but some models need to be added in the dlcpack folders in order to work correctly.

fib - FIB Buffalo

fib2 - FIB Granger

police - Police CVPI

police2 - Police Buffalo

police3 - Interceptor

police4 - Unmarked CVPI

policeb - Police Bike

policeold1 - North Yankton Rancher (SUV)

policeold2 - North Yankton Esperanto (CAR)

policet - Police Transporter

polmav - Police Maverick

pranger - Park Ranger

predator - Police Boat

riot - Police/Noose Riot Truck

sheriff - Sheriff CVPI

sheriff2 - Sheriff Granger

Hope this helps.
