I recently re-installed GTA V last night and re-modded everything this morning and it worked fantastically. However, about two hours ago I shutdown my laptop (first time I shut it down since GTA V was re-installed) to take a break. I just now come back and fire up my laptop and click on the RAGE Plugin Hook icon to load GTA V, then the Steam game installation box comes up. So, I thought maybe it just needs to warm up some more or somehow Steam isn't reading that GTA V is installed. Note: GTA V is my ONLY installed game on Steam. However, after rebooting Steam, restarting my laptop, checking my connections, it still ask if I want to install GTA V. All the game files are still installed to my drive, and the GTA V desktop icon is still there. Somehow it's just vanished from Steam. I've tried everything and I'm wondering if there is anyway to get Steam to realize the game is still there?

You will lose your steam settings by doing this, hopefully you can re do them.

 

1. Open the windows run box (Windows key + R)
2. Type steam://flushconfig and hit enter. Press yes on any boxes
3. Re install steam.

As long as you choose the same installation directory, it should verify your local game files.
