Quick way to reinstall update.rpf mods and metas when Rockstar updates?

Featured Replies

I have all my modded vehicles and metas files copied from my current stable version of GTA V and LSPDFR to a separate folder on my PC with all locations listed that they go in.  Basically all my police car files and metas are backed up in case Rockstar updates.  Does anyone know the exact files that are updated when the update happens?  I believe that actual car files are not affected when Rockstar updates?  Meaning if I have a car I have downloaded from this site in police2, that modded car will stay in police2 when Rockstar updates?

How does Rockstar updates affect meta files?  Are those files overridden with the originals and they need to be reinstalled?

Is it only Update > Update.rpf that changed when an update happens?  I have vehicle files installed to X64 and X64E, will those files remain untouched?

My metas are updated in Update > X64 and in Update > Update.rpf.  Will those modded files need to be reinstalled one an update happens.  Basically I would like to know what modded files such as cars and metas do I need to copy and paste back into the update folder when Rockstar updates and are there modded files that will remain untouched when an update happens?  Is there a quick way to get your vehicles and metas put back in quickly after a Rockstar update or is everything overridden and put back in a "vanilla" game state when the game updates?

Was anyone able to come up with any answers to these questions?  Sorry to ask, but I recently got back into playing  GTA V and wondered the best way to deal with Rockstar when they decide to update.  I do have a mods folder as well.

usually the updates are done in..get ready for it...UPDAAAAAAATES, yeaaaahhhh. hmmm, maybe the name gave it away. and update.rpf. if you have a separate game folder for LSPDFR and rename it to play you wont get updated. see the thread concerning avoiding rockstar updates also

From my understanding there isn't a way to avoid a reinstall. Open IV actually tells you this when you try to open the old mods folder after you have installed the new update. Some mods may work, some may not. Some games may crash, some may not. Best thing to do is a fresh install of anything that was in your mods folder, after you update the game. I had about 6 vehicles, visual v and some other minor tweaks in my mods folder. The game did not crash and the vehicles appeared to be in working order, however visual v and the other minor game tweaks did not. To avoid any conflicts I reinstalled everything and now my 052 mods work perfectly fine.
