Jesus, for god sakes, make a copy of your GTA V directory. Otherwise things WILL BREAK, and you WILL have to REDOWNLOAD

How about to make a normal reply... You can't expect from people who are TOTALLY new, to know everything...

Sorry, It's just that you should always have a clean copy of your game as a backup, I wouldn't do any modding at all until you do. Apologies if I came off as being a little rude.

I never had to redownload GTA V, and 60GB of redundant data aren't exactly peanuts on a hard drive.
If you use the mods folder setup of OpenIV you won't need backups of those files.
The worst case scenario would be that you have to delete the mods folder and have to reinstall all your mods.
As for script mods, they can be easily uninstalled; just install them one at a time and in case something goes wrong, just delete the scripts. So, no. You don't need backups.

Good point, however the mods folder works best for use with .rpf mods.

Alright, my opinion: If you have plenty of HDD space, make a backup of your full game. But use the mods feature with openIV anyways.
