More racing wheel issues. Depress brake pedal while moving mouse, character breaks window

Featured Replies

I apologise for posting two different topics about the same sort of thing (My racing wheel) in this subforum in such a short space of time, but I do require help with this.

As the title says, when I press down on the brake pedal (which came with the steering wheel and also has an accelerator, which doesn't have the same issue) and move the mouse, if my character has a drive-by weapon selected they will start aiming and possibly break the vehicle's driver side window. There is a "solution" to this for me, I have to make sure they are unarmed when in a vehicle. However, I can forget to do that. Not only that but I feel that this shouldn't be happening anyway.

I am using x360ce x64 to trick the game into thinking I am using a controller. The brake pedal is mapped to the left trigger and the accelerator pedal to the right trigger. the left bumper, which is usually what makes you aim in a vehicle, is definitely mapped to the left "gear changer" on the back of the steering wheel, and I'm definitely not pressing that accidentally while reversing and moving my mouse.

Does anyone know the cause of this? Is there a fix? Or am I doomed to forever be breaking the driver side window of my vehicle because I'm trying to reverse without crashing into something?

This is one you can probably (knowing Rockstar!) throw in the "functions as intended" bin, sadly. The issue can be duplicated on standard controller.

This happens because left-trigger is also mapped as "aim" and when the mouse is moved, in the short time it takes for the game to switch over to KBM controls it momentarily forgets you're in a car and tries to aim, as if you'd pressed Mouse2.

So, there's no solution except making sure I don't have a weapon selected when in a car? Because that'd be somewhat frustrating.

Without hooking up another controller for on-foot movement, correct.

Edit: This comment may imply (incorrectly!) that hooking up a controller will solve the issue if you're using KBM for movement - it won't.

Well, I do have an Xbox 360 controller and you can map multiple controllers in x360ce. I'm just not entirely sure how to use it. Would I use the right stick for camera control while in a vehicle or are you saying I can't use the keyboard at all in vehicles or on foot?

I'm saying you'll probably want another controller nearby for panning the camera - each time you switch between KBM and gamepad (or in your case steering wheel) it briefly turns your controls to on-foot. The only known workarounds are to either not use KBM, not use gamepad/wheel, or disarm after each vehicle entry (which will still have your character shoot the bird) I'm afraid.

Oddly enough that doesn't seem to happen. It's only when I have a weapon out that they do anything, with unarmed they don't even flip people off.

Really? Weird, whenever I aim with unarmed he usually shoots the bird.

Oh, one other note: If you shoot the bird in third person out the drivers' side window, the character rolls the window down - no window smash. If you don't use auto-repair, might use that to prevent the window from being smashed out.

Thanks, might try that.
