Looking to upgrade...

Featured Replies

I want to upgrade my PC, which I haven't done before other than upgrading RAM in my old PC. Right now, I have:

Radeon HD 4350 (512mb)

AMD Phenom II X4 910 (2.8ghz)

8 GB Memory

300W PSU

(Specs here: http://h10025.www1.h...uct=4007333#N60 )

As you may know, the E9220y is a terrible, overpriced piece of crap.

What I'm looking to get:

Come to a total of about $340. This means possibly scrapping my airsoft loadout plans, but hopefully I will be able to afford these after my birthday. My birthday is June 1, so, obviously, I plan to order something June 1-2. Will the above products be able to run GTAIV and assuming that the specs are higher, GTAV? I only plan to play a few games on pc like GTAIV-V, Metro 2033.

LCPD:FR Is what made me want to upgrade, so now I'll be spending over $340 for LCPDFR :P

Even then, will these parts all even FIT into my PC? Can they all connect to eachother? Since this PC has 1 x16 PCI-E port, with little room, do you think that card will fit?

EDIT: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161379

What about this one?

haha im looking at upgrading as well for this game alone :)

but as far as your video card goes, Im sure it will handle GTAIV like a champ. The Radeon HD6750 1gb is a good card for the price, but requires a PCI Express 2.1 x16 and your mother board only supports 2.0. Gotta watch out for that one, the 2.1 demands more power then the 2.0 and now the even have 3.0 out. as for your other things the links are not working.

Now sacrificing my entire airsoft plans, I'll get a new MB that supports 3.0. I'm going all out on this. Hopefully I get like $5-600 for my birthday...

Thanks :P

Infact, I might just buy a new PC.

I decided I'm gonna roll with the Geforce GTX 550 ti. Forget a new PC :P

Thanks :)

Why can't we delete our own posts? I assume to prevent people from saying something then deleting it to not get in trouble?

That, as well as it would just cause a whole bunch of issues, so we just keep it to moderators, we can also "Soft Delete" Which hides posts from regular members, but doesn't delete it.

Ah...

Well, my total upgrades will be;

Geforce GTX 550 ti

550W Antec PSU

AMD Phenom II x4 965 3.4 ghz quad core

Anybody have experience with those 2? Should I be able to just pop them in using my computer? (Hp link is up top)

Yep. 550 ti is 400w .

I was thinking of a new MB, since all the good cards are PCI-E 2.1 and 3.0. I can't find a single MB that supports 2.1 or 3.0. What's up with that?

Just another random question here, my MB is currently micro ATX, my case is like mid-atx or something. If I get an ATX MB, can I screw holes into my case? I'm willing to cut and break my case to fit anything in it, but would that work?

ive been looking at serveral MB and video cards that are 2.0 so idk what to tell ya, try looking at neweggs bare bone kits they are cheap and great starting points.

for your micro ATX, -- MICRO is the size of the board, so its the smallest possible sized board for desktops. Most desktops will run regular sized boards however ive begun to see more and more micro boards. Not sure why as video cards are getting bigger x_x. anyways i took a micro out of a micro case and put it into a mid size case, ALMOST fit but had to do a couple custom holes into my case.
