October 26, 201510 yr My military experience is probably different than yours since I was an Air Force labor and delivery medic stationed CONUS, but I honestly believe the United States should have some form of conscription. I know exactly what you're talking about in regards to high school kids, and that's because the average high school age kid is a selfish asshole, who doesn't know anything at all about real life.Since college has been so heavily emphasized in the US over the past 30-40 years, most kids are expected to go straight to college out of high school, but I think this sets a majority of them up for failure. Why do so many 18 / 19 year old kids drop out of college their first couple of semesters? They have absolutely no self control or self discipline and drop out after partying away from Mum and Da.The military helped me grow up and become less of an irresponsible asshole; I would have likely figured the same things out but in my early 20's.
