Taxi Cab Company Mod

Featured Replies

Ok, so I know this sounds crazy stupid but I'm a big fan of simulation games, especially sims like ETS 2 and the like, mainly because they allow you to run a business while actively participating in the actual operation of your subject of interest.

My question is, how come with mods like Train Simulation and some of the other miscellaneous script mods, there's been no attention given to taxi cab companies. There's also major room for stuff like Sim Copter esque mods where you can fly planes or helicopters and run a business moving people or cargo around.

Anyways, back to the taxi business mod...basically there's already somewhat detailed cab missions in vanilla GTA V including radio useage, but I'd like to see more depth added along with the ability to purchase my own depot and become a competeing company.  Players would have to buy cabs, hire drivers, pay insurance, maintenance, fuel, rental, and employee salaries, while simultaneously trying to earn fares on a shift timer. Maybe players could adjust the length of their in-game shifts/days through an ini-file.

I think it'd be a unique mod to see that could be surprisingly fun, especially if the business aspect could be added. Little details like having to do walk arounds on your cab before you start your shift, to check for maintenance issues, keeping a clean cab to attract more fares, break downs, your other drivers having issues, fare ditchers and robberies could all impact your bottom line.  I'd like to see a form of a tracker that detects how you are driving. Run red lights and you have to pay for a ticket.

With exceptional mods like Police Radio, people could get really detailed and add a taxi cab fare meter UI that the player can choose to operate if they desire (or leave it up to the computer to keep track of, again, perhaps in an INI file.)

Do you take the risk of being mugged on the night shift so your newer less experienced driver can be on the safer day shift?

There's all sorts of possibilities with GTA V's more stable platform and the unique abilities of Ragehook, that I sadly do not understand, nor can dedicate the time to learn. But, the major question is, am I alone in my seemingly strange interest in driving cabs in Los Santos?

Well seeing as how it's been over 24 hours and no one has replied, I can assume that most people here are not interested in this concept.

However, if there are a few individuals who are looking for something similiar, try doing a google search for a mod called Jobs V. It adds a lot of immersion and allows you to take random jobs and earn money. They just recently added jobs as a pilot, they have college, fire fighter jobs, and taxi license instruction course but sadly, no ability to work as a cab driver once you acquire the license. However, the mod authors states that taxi driver will be added to the list of professions, including a save feature. So this mod seems to cover some of the things I was hoping for, short of the business aspects.
