I have been having a problem with ELS 8.x 

I have GTAIV 1.0.7.0
LCPDFR 1.1
Windows 7 Ultimate SP1

and was using ELS 6, but upgraded to ELS 8.5.

I replaced all necessary files, attempt to start the game and then get this: els.asi is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program using the original installation media I understand that this error is a bad image error according to Microsoft.

This is what I have tried to fix the problem:

- Updated, repaired or reinstalled all dependencies (C++, .net) I understand there is three that ELS uses which were reinstalled.
- Tried ELS 8, no difference.
- ran sfc scan, no errors found

Here's the funny thing though if this may help: 
Trying to go back to ELS6 (I backed up ELS6 files before upgrading) I will still get this error, BUT the game will run, ELS will work no issues, try ELS8 or 8.5, same error, but game will CTD at the loading screen where it says for example "Loading the Cousins Belek"

Any thoughts?

Sorry, I'm not familiar with the term CTD. What does this mean?

Crash to desktop. I'll hear the music stutter twice, then completely crashes

I am running Windows 7 Bootcamp on a 2014 Macbook Pro retina.

Specs to MBP are 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, Intel Iris Graphics Card. 

GTAIV runs great on the setup I have for it and usually can be set just over half way to full maxed out settings without any stuttering or issues. Testing the ELS, I scaled back the settings to ensure memory requirements were met, the game never came close to running out of memory with ELS 6, LCPDFR and running over an hour. Confuses me why 8 and up is having issues.

Having AI ELS enabled usually is what makes your game CTD at the loading screen. But I think your computer is good enough to handle ELS, I could be wrong though. Have you tried disabling the AI?

How would I disable the AI ELS. I am familiar with ELS6 and was not aware of AI ELS there, other then watching stock ambulance hoods flicker, which could be amusing at times

Lol. Go to your ELS.ini open it with a Notepad, or something you can edit it with.

You then want to locate

Ai_Els_Sp = on
Ai_Els_Mp = on

Change both of those to off. And then see if your game crashes.

ok, I found it, AI_ELS_SP and MP I disabled both of them, game no longer crashes, though as expected, no responding police now have flashing lights, only myself. Is this more of a graphics or textures issue, or is this more because my Ambulance and Fire are still stock, as in would it work properly if I changed them to ELS enabled? or Disable them in the ELS if this conflicted?

I answered my own question, disabled all vehicles except those with ELS lights, tried, crashed, but turning off all AI works

I'm not really sure what causes AI ELS to crash games, or why it can't handle it. But this is always a issue with people and their computers. If you don't want your AI ELS disabled. You could always return to ELS 6, if that doesn't crash your game. And also there are other types of mods like ELS.

I will try a few things out and see what I can accomplish, What would you recommend other then ELS for a mod. My experiences have been with ELS since the early days it came out when my PC couldn't deal with the game lol
