Change Which Backup Vehicles Spawn/ Only Works While Wanted

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I've been enjoying LSPDFR, using all the latest program updates ie RPH, SHV, (using 0.2a, not yet 0.2b) without any issues or problems.  Everything is working great!  I've recently installed this new sheriff texture for the Interceptor http://www.lcpdfr.com/files/file/7808-vapid-sheriff-interceptor/ using OpenIV and a "mods" folder.  in addition, I have been able to edit dispatch.meta so that Vapid Interceptors spawn in place of the Sheriff Stainer when I'm wanted in game.  The problem is that, when requesting backup on duty, the Sheriff Stainer spawns, never the Interceptor,   When I request "Local Unit" backup from the "Backup Menu" menu I would like only the Sheriff Interceptor to spawn, as it does when I'm off duty and wanted.

Circumstances: After viewing the Rage Plugin Hook (RPH) log, It is my understanding that law enforcement vehicles are preloaded and cached (stored) for RPH during loading. See pic.
It is also to my understanding that LSPDFR requests specific vehicles for "backup" use and as selectable vehicles at the start of going on duty at a police station.  I could very much be wrong on this, however I don't remember ever having an interceptor spawn as backup in Los Santos for LSPDFR.  Also, police3 is never listed as cached.

I have investigated the following:

I have attempted to use the dispatch.meta to solve this problem by setting all "sheriff" ids to "police3" ids. (this works great for non LSPDFR requests).

I have tried tried going back and forth from on duty to off duty, getting wanted, clearing wanted level and returning to duty.  If on duty, only Stainers spawn as local units.  If I, then, go off duty and get wanted, the very first vehicle to respond is always a Sheriff Stainer followed by all Sheriff Interceptors after that. (tested only in country side areas)

I have tried alternating backup types, ie "Code 2" vs "Code 3", State and Noose requests vs Local Swat, etc.

I have researched having GTA5 returning the interceptor when LSPDFR requests the stainer by editing value/ names within vehicles.meta, definitions.meta, vehiclemodelsets.meta.  I haven't found much information on these files and I'm rather reluctant to freely edit/install them.  I'm concerned about critical or unrecoverable errors (I use backups).  I'll likely first try exchanging the reference names of "sheriff" and "police3" within vehicles.meta, so that if LSPDFR requests "sheriff" GTA5 will return the "police3" profile and model feature (hopeful).

I've somewhat viewed the contents of LSPD First Response.dll, hoping to at least understand the "Local Unit" backup request flow/ operation.  However, while being familiar with some coding, I may not have the necessary tools to understand the .dll contents, and secondly, I don't want to access information that has been deemed forbidden by devs.  If editing the .dll is authorized, I'd give it a try. rather not for now.

Lastly, I have done much to try to understand some of the logic behind spawning backup requests.  Lots of searching, and learning, but still haven't quite fixed this.

Note: I can supply, my dir, full RPH log, and/or any other information which may be pertinent to spawning only the interceptor when local backup is requested in Country Side spaces.

I'm using non steam version of GTAV.

Thanks to all and Devs for the hard, tedious, and detailed work that few get to see you do.

^Exactly what he said.

You CAN however, replace the Sheriff Stanier with the Shitterceptor, but who in their own right mind would dare replace one of the Vapid Staniers. That's a crime against humanity itself.

You cannot currently change which vehicle spawn, and you're correct in that the "Interceptor" never spawns while using LSPDFR - It looks horrible and was removed :)

lol, ok, yes it doesn't do an actual Ford much justice so I have no complaints with its removal.  Give my a Vicky when crime is sticky!  I do, however, like to use the Interceptor in snow and open spaces like Blaine County because of its AWD feature (modded).  Very unrealistic to have Stainer AWD and I wouldn't want to do it.

It sounds like you're saying that there is not currently a line/ lines in any files you're aware of that can be changed to allow only the "police3".  Does this also mean I'd likely experience crashes or fatal errors if I edit one of the .meta files described to not allow the spawning of the "sheriff" stainer?  In other words... if the "sheriff" stainer is not available as an option, would the game just not load, would the next available country side sheriff vehicle spawn, or would I just get no backup spawning at all?

Yeah, I wouldn't want to totally replace the Staniers, Looks way to native in the L.A. like cityscape and both are a part of the GTAV Law Enforcement system and my enjoyment.

Hopefully, the ability/solution will reveal itself as I may want all Staniers, or police Buffalos someday.

BTW,

Has the Vapid Interceptor been removed solely for aesthetic values/ purposes?  I'm in love with LCPDFR/ LSPDFR either way.  My officers could all be on foot, wouldn't matter much. But, I feel as though, if the devs removed this vehicle as a backup option for other players ONLY because of personal preference and not performance... I'd feel a twinkle bit of discouragement.  Everyone likes different police vehicle types as part of the enjoyment.   LCPDFR utilized about every patrol vehicle slot in GTAIV, I think.

It is the devs mod and it is beyond awesome, WAY beyond.  Obviously, they can program it as they prefer. If police3 has been removed for looks alone, well, it seems a little inconsistent from how I view the devs.  Was there a performance issue?

It was removed as it was literally the most generic pile of crap you could ever find.

I myself was glad to not see it with the LSPDFR mod. Thing about LCPDFR, too. There weren't as many Emergency vehicles in IV as there are in V. In IV you had 2 patrol vehicles, 3 N.O.o.S.E. vehicles, 1 FIB vehicle, and a Police Stockade.

In V we have 3 different patrol vehicles (including the generic shitbox), an unmarked vehicle, 2 FIB/N.O.o.S.E. Vehicles, a N.O.o.S.E. Stockade, a Police Transporter, 2 Sheriff Vehicles, Highway Patrol bike, and even a Park Ranger SUV. Most of the vehicles with different variations between beautiful rotating light bar setups and the standard LED setups, and a slick-top setup, too.

I'd also think if they did keep the Shitterceptor in the mod, it'd look quite odd having them with the big POLICE livery along side with the clean looking LSPD design. Wouldn't look right at all.

@Lundy

Thanks much for the tip on replacing the model files.  I wasn't yet sure what configuration conflicts may be created.  I will try this.

You're right, there weren't as many patrol vehicles in GTAIV.  I hadn't really thought about that.  And, yes having the POLICE skin on the car always sucked... one of the first things I every wanted to change.  The vast synchronous majority of patrol vehicles in my city and state are Fords with some Chargers and Tahoes hidden in the shadows.  Colorado has lots of open space and snow.  I would like a nice new ford somewhere, sometime in LSPDFR as backup in open areas.

Ok.  So ultimately here, I'm getting that Mr. Ceptor... looks horrible, is generic crap,, and doesn't realistically have a niche in the police variety.  I'll roll with this.  I'm assuming greatly that it was graphically and configuratively engineered like the hog's ass, based on what you and ineseri have said about it.  The devs specifically removed it from the spawning pool. That's good enough for me to know that it shouldn't natively spawn as backup within LSPDFR.

After all this, I may have already learned to adjust which cars respond.  Now, with information on police3's exclusion by the devs, I can go back and try with other vehicle ids in the dispatch.meta.  I can test replacing the "police2" ids with "stanier" ids and vise vera, to see if they will spawn accordingly.  If it works, this method I prefer more than changing out all of the vehicle files every time I want different dispatching types in LSPDFR.
