A Launch problem

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have been experiencing a long running issue with GTAIV and more recently EFLC. The problem is the games wont launch.

Background game info;

GTA IV on patch 1.0.7.0 installed from Disk

EFLC on patch 1.1.2.0 installed from Disk

PC Info;

Intel Core I5-2400 @3.1Ghz

Nvidia GTX 260

Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit OS

4GB DDR3 RAM

So what happens: I start up my game (launch GTAIV/EFLC, right click, run as admin), my computer and disk drive whir round, as if they were to launch any other program, it spins for a few seconds, stops and nothing further happens. Both of these games worked recently. But does do not anymore; no error messages or explanation. I have tried this process with Task manager up, and, the game appears for a few seconds and then dissapears, similarly no error messages or explanation.

Also something interessting I have noted from reinstalls is;

1.) GTAIV is subject to a data2.cab file transfer error, despite the disc being in top condition.

2.) Both EFLC and GTAIV game directory's seem to be lacking a few files and .dll's. I suspect this is what could be the problem.

I dont believe it can be my disc drive, due to it being new and able to run other disks. I am not unique in having this problem, lots of people have this issue.

So does anybody have any idea what it could be, or can confirm my suspcions?

Any help will be much appreciated,

Kind regards,

Hench

Do you get a CRC error when installing the game?

I seem to remember the phrase from GTAIV installations, when it gets the data transfer error, this is occasional and I can work around it, but EFLC installed without any error, its problem is, it wont launch and provides no explantion or error as to why.

CRC Error = Cyclic Redundancy Check.

Your GTA IV disc is screwed. You'll most likely need a new one, part of the disc is scratched and is preventing data on that area from being copied.

From what I understand, you have the complete edition like me, EFLC is on a separate disc and therefore shouldn't be affected.

Processor: Intel i5-6600 @ 3.30GHz

GPU: MSI ARMOR GeForce GTX 1080 OC

Ram: 16GB Skylake

I do have all three GTAIV, TLAD and TBOGT. I have EFLC installed (no errors or anything), which requires the disk to run. However I put the disk in and click the run button, yet it doesn't start. I did observe slightly fewer files in the root directory than last time.

Ok, I find the launcheflc in the game directory, I right click, run as aministrator, the social club app opens up (the one after 1.1.2.0), i click play (I have entered all of my correct account details), the app closes and my PC acts as though it is starting the game, the disk appears for a short time then the windows loading anim happens, then it all just stops and nothing else happens.

From my experience RSGSC gives an error, so I doubt entirely it is that.

I had this error, do you have any mod's installed before the first Launch? if you do, your best bet is before installing ANY mod's run the launch the 1st time, this way you can pin point which mod is screwing stuff up, i just did a reinstall and everything worked fine.
