Game completely blocked/unplayable on next reload

Recommended Posts

I only had LSPDFR loaded. Went on duty, played quite a bit, then saved the game via my cellphone WHILE being a cop (could be the culprit?), quit the game. Today I loaded the latest save and my game is unplayable — no active interface: can't ALT between characters, can't move. Stuck as Michael inside a police department. Tried to move myself to a random location using the corresponding console command — teleported into the sky, fell down on some street, but didn't die, and the blocked state of the game hasn't changed at all.

Lost quite a bit of GTA story progress because of it. I guess someone must have encountered and reported this already, since it's a HUGE bug, worse than anything else I've encountered so far. Then again it's my fault for even saving as a cop, since there's no real progress when playing a cop anyway — nothing to save, essentially. Maybe at least write a warning to new players, before the bug is fixed (like "Don't save the game as a cop").

Still, great mod.

It should be common sense when using a player model other than one of the three protagonist.

No, it really shouldn't. And I expect this bug to be eliminated once the mod nears the release (if ever).

Also, even after going off-duty and returning to your story character, there's no way to save the game without bad consequences. No serious bugs (could continue story missions etc), but your protagonist gets stripped of EVERY weapon. Granted, you can just re-buy them, and also it's kind of fun chasing that armored car as a cop, then commandeering it and leaving it on the police department parking lot for, say, Michael to pick up. Could even be explained story-wise — he could have used his connections in the police/FBI, heh.

Question: Should I not load up the mod at all before doing story missions? Or is it okay to at least keep the Hook+LSPDFR active in background?

It's not a bug, so it won't be fixed. The "fix" is simple: Do not save while on duty. Make a save before starting the mod, and when you're finished, load it up again.

Invenio, Investigatio, Imperium

This isn't a bug within LSPDFR. It's been the same since GTA IV. If you try saving your game after changing characters, it will corrupt the save file.

It's probably best to not load LSPDFR if you're doing story missions. Just to be on the safe side.
