Everyone is so confusing. Here's why you do. Also make sure you create a different folder with just your original files from GTA IV so you can make multiple directories. (Zip it) • Install the Automat

If I remember correctly the auto installer will check and install the necessary net-framewrok (4.5 needed).  Use that one and see what happens.

All the script hooks are included, so you're fine in that regard.

so i just extracted the files from First Response 1.0d_2 Automatic Install and 2 LCPDFR First Response 1.0d_2 Automatic Install (Alternative) was this right and if not im so confused sorry

ok so i double clicked the files so i need to extract the things in those files?

Yes, install all those files into the GTAIV main directory.  Then go to the directory and make sure you only have either dsound.dll or xlive.dll, not both.  If both show up, then delete one.

You only need to install one or the other, not both 1.0d files...although not a big deal if you did, because it should overwrite the file anyhow.

Go into the game and once the game is running press LAlt+p and see if you see the police stations marked on the map.

I downloaded that xlive will check for dsound now

Just use xlive for now, and keep it if you don't plan on going online.  Don't use both, they conflict.

BTW:  Everything you need is in the installer, you shouldn't need to download anything else.  Just the 1.0d installer (either manual or auto).

Everything is in the installer.

Once you get it into the game directory then try to run it and see if you get the police station blips on the map.

Everyone is so confusing. Here's why you do. Also make sure you create a different folder with just your original files from GTA IV so you can make multiple directories. (Zip it)

• Install the Automatic installer

• Select the folder with your GTA IV in it

• While you're in the installer, make sure you have Dsound.dll checked and not Xliveless

• Also there will be a ad download that'll pop up because they want you to download something. Don't have it checked

• When you're done downloading, go to your GTA IV directory you installed it in and you'll see a folder called LCPD First Response

• Open the folder up and extract everything from that folder to the directory

Everything I just said should help you and it's not complicated to follow if you know the basics of a computer and installing stuff

Also, never use Xliveless because it's unstable and Dsound isn't. And to start the mod up you press Control+P

Extra sentence

Yeah, Windows is great… I used it to download Linux.

Xlive is fine.  Just use that and see if the game starts.

Again; once in the game, press LAlt+P to start LCPDFR.  You will see blips for police stations on the map.

And I'd have to disagree with the other guy, I find that xlive is far more stable than dsound, on my rig at least, and been doing this for a few years now.
