Multiple GTA V directory's (Non-steam)

Featured Replies

I have a CD copy of GTA V because of my internet having a cap I can't download it.

What I'm asking is how can I go about making multiple directory's of it. I want to do this so I can have one in and 'offline' state which will be using mods, and one that will be used for Online. I do have steam in stalled and I do use it for other games (Cities:Skyline and ETS 2)

The game dose run without the CD, which were only used to install

Copy the directory to somewhere else (like a folder on the desktop) and just right click the .exe that runs it when you want to use that directory.

From what I've heard just copying sometimes doesn't work

I believe you'd have to store your copies somewhere externally. You COULD try deleting the .exes from one directory and then trying to launch the other, it may work.

It will work fine as long as you keep the directory you installed the game to the same. So, let's say you originally installed the game to a folder called "GTA V" (which I believe is default). Copy "GTA V" and name it "GTA V 2." When you want to run the second copy of the game, rename "GTA V" to "GTA V 1" and "GTA V 2" to "GTA V". These folders need to be in the same place (so, the directory will end up being the same as when you installed the game for whichever copy you are running).

I wrote a batch file for my two versions of EFLC, you could do something similar. The original installation was to "F:\EFLC\EFLC".

To run my EFLC with many many mods:

F:                                                                       to change to the F drive
cd "F:\EFLC\"                                                     to change to the directory the game is installed to
ren "EFLC" "EFLC LESS MODS"                       to rename the current installation to a temp name
ren "EFLC LCPDFR" "EFLC"                             to rename the installation I want to run to the default name
cd "F:\EFLC\EFLC\"                                           to change to the directory where the game files are
start LaunchEFLC.exe                                       to run the game

To run my EFLC with less mods:

F:
cd "F:\EFLC\"
ren "EFLC" "EFLC LCPDFR"
ren "EFLC LESS MODS" "EFLC"
cd "F:\EFLC\EFLC\"
start LaunchEFLC.exe

would drag and drop work with this. Because I had to folders on my desktop (GTA V, GTA V MODS) and I just drag and drop them from each folder, or would cause issues when going to use LSPDFR, because I've haven't played with any mods yet

I suppose so. You'll only know what works by trying it.

That worked fine for me for GTA IV, but not EFLC. It would load some files from the default directory regardless of which shortcut I ran.
