The application must also be compiled with debugging

Try extracting SparkIV to your game directory and running it from there. Alternatively, download and use OpenIV as it's a much better program.

OpenIV - ideal for replacement models. However, replacement of sounds "SparkIV" will be required. Try moving the Spark IV into your game folder, as said Illusionary.
